A warm weather period caused cracks in the still 17 cm thick ice, and for safety reasons, the DN European Championship was concluded prematurely. Karol Jablonski POL collected another title and his compatriot Michal Burczynski POL one point behind had to content himself with Silver. Bronze went to Lukasz Zakrszewski POL. The perfect conditions on Lake Balaton allowed to complete 5 races for each of the 3 fleets at the DN European Championship. Man of the day was Michal Burczynski POL with two bullets, letting him close the gap on the so far clearly leading Karol Jablonski POL on one point. The DN European Championship on the Balaton began yesterday with three races for the Gold- and Silverfleets and two races for the Bronzefleet.
With the day ranks 2/1/1 is the Worldchampion and former America's Cup helmsman Karol Jablonski POL already clearly ahead, confirming his role as favorite. Today begins the DN European Championship on Lake Balaton HUN covered with perfect black ice. The 118 participants are registered in an A- and B-fleet. The 12 best of the B-fleet will be promoted to the A-fleet for the Championship. Favorites in the A-fleet are undoubtedly Karol Jablonski POL or Michal Burzynski POL. Searching for ice all over Europe, the German organisers of the DN European Championship 2017 choose the Hungarian Balaton as venue, .... 20 cm black ice .... perfect conditions for the DN sleds. Today, the first races will be started for the 147 participants from 16 nations, among them the favorites World Champion Karol Jablonski POL and Michal Burczynski POL. Three USA starters are on the entry list.
