Ian Williams GBR (vs Taylor Canfield ISV) and Johnie Berntsson SWE (vs Phil Robertson NZL) were the dominating 3-0 winners of their Semi Finals. The Final however was very much disputed, and only the fifth duel decided in favor of Ian Williams GBR winning overall 3-2 at the end of the day. Canfield ISV defeated Robertson NZL in the Petite Final with 2-0.

Yesterday, the Quarter Finals and the first Semi Finals were on the program at the Congressional Cup in Long Beach. After two duels, Ian Williams GBR leads over Taylor Canfield ISV 2-0, and with the same score, Johnie Berntsson SWE has the upper hand on Joachim Aschenbrenner DEN.

Yesterday, the Repechage with the teams on the ranks 5 to 12 after the Round Robin was on the program with the best four qualified for the Quarter Finals. In addition to the directly selected Johnie Berntsson SWE, Taylor Canfield ISV, Phil Robertson NZL and Sam Gilmour AUS, the table was completed yesterday with Ian Williams GBR, Chris Steele NZL, Scott Dickson NZL and Joachim Aschenbrenner DEN.

14 flights have been completed at the Long Beach Congressional Cup. In a light seabreeze, Johnie Berntsson SWE and Taylor Canfiel ISV remained on top of the ranking table with 9-5 w/l each. Phil Robertson NZL with a 7-7 score stays on rank 3. Berntsson, Canfield, Robertson and Sam Gilmour (AUS) move straight to the Quarter Finals on Saturday, with today a day off. The remaining eight teams will fight for their spots in a Repechage, a single round robin to determine which four move on … and which four go home.

The classic Congressional Cup was kicked off yesterday in Long Beach, the only WMRT Matchrace sailed in keelboats. Six Round Robin flights were completed in a moderate seabreeze.
The interim's leaders after day one are Johnie Berntson SWE and Taylor Canfield ISV with a 4-2 score each. Eric Monnin SUI follows on the 3rd position with a 3-3 score, btw defeating the multiple World Champion Ian Williams GBR, rarely happening in the past.
