420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Final results, 420 Silver for Ascencios/Nick Chisari USA

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Final results, 420 Silver for Ascencios/Nick Chisari USA The 420/470 Junior European Championship on Lake Garda ended yesterday with the Medal Races for the 470 men and women as well as additional races for the rest of the fleets.
Maria Bozi/Rafailina Klonaridou GRE defended their first place in the 470 women Medal Race winning the title ahead of Marina Lefort/Lara Granier FRA. Luise und Helena Wanser GER earned Bronze.
In the 470 men, Giacomo Ferrari/Giulio Calabro ITA were the premature Champions before the Medal Race already. Hyppolyte Machetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA won Silver, Bronze went to Maor Abu/Yoav Rooz ISR.
In the 420s, Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP were the superior winners with a 37 points' lead on Dylan Ascencios/Nick Chisari USA on rank 2. Edoardo Ferraro/Francesco Orlando ITA finished 3rd and earned the European Championship Silver Medal. The 4th-ranked Athanasopoulos/Tassios GRE took the Europeans' Bronze Medal.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 5, Ascencios/Chisari USA still 2nd 420 The 470s finished their Qualifications for the Medal Race and the 420 split in a Gold- and a Silverfleet sailed two more races in an unconstant Ora.
With a 37 points' advantage, Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP will take the 420 title in today's two last races without problems. Dylan Ascencios/Nick Chisari USA on rank 2 have a 10 points advance on the 3rd-ranked Athanasopoulos/Tassios GRE. Ferraro/Orlando ITA 2 points back have also chance for a Medal.
The situation in the two 470 fleets remains open. In the 470 women, the first four teams are separated by 6 points only. Bozi/Klonaridou GRE are 3 points ahead of Wanser/Wanser GER - best of the day yesterday. Bergström/ Karlsson SWE and Lefort/Granier FRA follow closely behind.
In the 470 men, Ferrari/Calabro ITA on top are on the safe side before the Medal Race with a 19 points advantage on Machetti/Dantes FRA. But the fight for Silver and Bronze is still open with Abu/Rooz ISR only 3 points back.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 4, Ascencios/Chisari USA now 2nd 420 The 470s could not sail on Thursday due to lack of wind and were therefore called early yesterday to sail a race in the morning Northwind. In the afternoon, all classes sailed the full program in a well-established Ora breeze.
The 420s completed two races and inspite of medium race ranks (14/16), Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP defended their huge lead (21 points). New on rank 2 are now Dylan Ascencios/Nick Chisari USA. On rank 3 follow Edoardo Ferraro/Francesco Orlando ITA.
As best of the day Maria Bozi/Rafailina Klonardiou GRE took the overall lead in the 470 women ahead of Beste Kaynakci/Simay Aslan TUR at equal points. 4 points behind follow Marina Lefort/Lara Granier FRA on 3rd.
In the 470 men, Hyppolite Machetti/Sidoine Dantes FRA lead now one point ahead of Giacomo Ferraro/Giulio Calabro ITA. Ben Hazeldine/Ryan Orr GBR on the 3rd place are already 20 points back.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 3 To conclude the qualifications for the Goldfleet, the 109 420 teams had an early wake up call yesterday with a first start at 8 a.m. CET. The Northwind - called Vento or Peler - filled in perfectly with up to 25 kn and two races could be completed.
Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP went on with their perfect series extending their lead on Athanasopoulos/Tassios GRE and Wisokinski/Jankowski POL at equal points to 22 points. Kaiser/Störr GER on rank 4 are only one point further back.
The upcoming rain impeded racing in the afternoon not only for the 420s but also the 470s inactive during the whole day. After 4 races, Kaynakci/Aslan TUR lead in the 470 women, and Ferrari/Calabro ITA in the 470 men.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 2 Unconstant conditions prevailed also on the second day of the 420/470 Europeans on Lake Garda, and the Ora was not really well established.
Telis Athanasopoulos/Dimitris Tassios GRE took the overall lead in the 420s ahead of Tom Collyer/Aaron Chatwick GBR, best of the day with the ranks 2/2. On the 3rd place followed Carlos Balaguer/Antoni Massanet ESP.
In the 470 men, the leaders Ferrari/Calabro ITA remain on top one point ahead of Macchetti/Dantes FRA. Hazeldine/Orr GBR are new on rank 3. In the 470 women, Kaynakci/Aslan TUR have taken the lead. The best of the day Wanser/Wanser GER are now 2nd. On rank 3 follow Zanet/Lasery ISR.

 420 & 470 - Junior European Championship 2017 - Riva ITA - Day 1, Asencios/Nick Chisari USA lead in 420s The usual fresh Ora breeze faltered on the first day of the joint 420/470 Youth European Championship on Lake Garda. A first race attempt had to be abandoned when the wind disappeared completely, and only late in the day, a light 8 kn Ora came back. Both classes completed two races each.
In the 420s, Dylan Asencios/Nick Chisari USA took the overall lead with the day ranks 1 and 2 ahead of Telis Anathasopoulos/Dimitris Tassios GRE and Wysokinski/Jankowski POL. 109 teams.
First in the 470 women are Tsuf Zamet/Noa Lasry ISR ahead of Kaynasci/ Aslan TUR and Wallach/Tibi ISR. In the 470 men, Calabro/Ferrari ITA are first ahead of Macchetti/Dantes FRA and Abu/Rooz ISR. 55 teams.
