Olympic Classes - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 3, Martin CAN 8th Finn

 Olympic Classes - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 3, Martin CAN 8th Finn This morning UTC, the first classes have already completed today's program. As from today, additional classes will join the Sail Melbourne competition.
In the Finns, Jake Lilley AUS was again the best of the day with the ranks 1 and 2. At equal points on the ranks 2 to 4 follow Tom Slingsby AUS, Oliver Tweddell AUS and Max Salminen SWE. Kyle Martin CAN is 8th.
With two race wins, Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS are now the sole leaders in the 470s.

Olympic Sailing - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 2, 49er ranks 2 and 3 for USA

 Olympic Sailing - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 2, 49er ranks 2 and 3 for USA Sail Melbourne began yesterday with some delay till the moderate 10kn wind filled in on a hot summery day (35°C). For the first time for 4 years, the event is not part of the Olympic Classes Worldcup circuit and therefore, very few participants from Europe and America are present.
The only two Europeans, as well as one Canadian sail in the Finns, the best-attended fleet in Melbourne this time. Jake Lilley AUS was leading after the first day with the ranks 1 and 2, and this morning UTC, he added two more bullets. On the 2nd place is the Laser Olympic Champion 2012 Tom Slingsby AUS in his first race in the Finns. The Finn World Champion Max Salminen SWE and Ed Wright GBR are at equal points with Slingsby AUS on the ranks 3 and 4. Kyle Martin CAN is on the 7th place. The Finn ranking list.
In the Lasers Standard, only one race was finished at Press Deadling this morning UTC. The Olympic Champion Tom Burton AUS, the local matador Jeremy O'Connell AUS and the Worlds Bronze medalist Matthew Wearn AUS share rank one at equal points.
In the 470s, Daichi Takayama/Kimihiko Imamura JPN are ahead of the Olympic Silver medalists and multiple World Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS winning two of the three races. The Australian Olympians Carrie Smith/Jaime Ryan AUS are the best women's team on rank 4.

Two USA teams participate in the 49ers, where Gilmour/Turner AUS lead in front of Ryan/Henken USA and Snow/Agnese USA. Two more races are on today's program.

 Olympic Worldcup - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 1, with NorAms This morning UTC in Melbourne, the kickoff was given to the 2017/18 Olympic Classes Worldcup season. As mostly in post-Olympic years, only a few top sailors decided to travel to Australia. One of the Europeans is the Finn World Champion Max Salminen SWE who will encounter Jake Lilley AUS and the Finn newcomer Tom Slingsby AUS, Laser Olympic Champion 2012 and AC 'Team Oracle' member. In the Lasers Standard, the Olympic Champion Tom Burton AUS has his team mate Matthew Wearn AUS as fiercest opponent.
From North America, Nevin Snow/Mac Agnese USA and Judge Ryan/Hans Henken USA in the 49ers and Kyle Martin CAN in the Finns are on the list of participants.
In addition to the Olympic Classes, youth sailors on 29ers, 420s, Lasers 4.7 and Optimists are racing as well.
The entry lists. By Press time this morning, the first ranking lists have been posted. Snow/Agnese USA finished 2nd and Ryan/Henken USA 9th in the 49ers, Kyle Martin CAN is 6th in the Finns. Till noon, all results and possibly already the daily news report will be available on the event website.
