 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race - Hobart AUS - Day 4 - 'Ichiban' win in calculated time 36 of the 102 teams had finished the race in Hobart this morning UTC. The TP52 'Ichiban' of Matt Allen AUS, finishing the race on the 8th place, is the winner in calculated time. As informed yesterday, 'Comanche' is the overall winner after her successful protest against 'Wild Oats XI'.

IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race - Hobart AUS - Day 3 - Line honours for Wild Oats XI ?

 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race - Hobart AUS - Day 3 - Line honours for Wild Oats XI ? The finish up the Dervent River was exciting and 'Wild Oats XI' (Mark Richards AUS) succeeded to overtake the leading 'Comanche' (Jim Cooney AUS), taking the line honours for the ninth time. The result is not yet firm, as 'Comanche' has lodged a protest against 'Wild Oats XI' to be deliberated today. The perfect wind conditions right from the start and especially the unusual rear winds on the Bass Strait allowed to improve the record by 5hrs to 1 day, 8 hours and 48 minutes. In calcualted time, the leader is 'Ichi Ban' (Matt Allen AUS), but up to now, only 22 of the 102 teams have finished the race in Hobart.

 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2017 - Hobart AUS - Day 2 The leading duo will reach Hobart this morning UTC with 'Comanche' of Jim Cooney AUS and Samantha Grant AUS leading 5nm ahead of 'Wild Oats XI with Mark Richards AUS 80nm before the arrival. The final outcome is still open as the changing conditions up the Dervent River are tricky. 'Black Jack' with Peter Harburg AUS on 3rd is already 40nm behind. The bulk of the fleet is crossing the Bass Strait and will be underway for another 24hrs.

 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2017 - Sydney AUS - Day 1, Comanche USA in the leading trio This Boxing Day morning at 3h UTC, the start to the 72nd Sydney-Hobart-Race was given on Sydney Harbour and after 3 race hours, the fleet passed the Heads and is sailing South along the Australian East Coast with the three Super-Maxis closely together already clearly in the lead. At 'Wild Oats XI' with Mark Richards AUS was on first 200m ahead of 'Comanche' with Jim Cooney USA. Another 300m back follows 'Black Jack' (the former 'Alfa Romeo' and 'Esimit Europa') with Mark Bradford AUS. 'Infotrack' on 4th with the Laser Olympic Champion Tom Slingsby AUS was aleady at some distance behind.

 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2017 - Sydney AUS - Start tomorrow with USA participants Tomorrow December 26th, the start to the 73rd Sydney-Hobart Race will be given on Sydney Harbour at 2 p.m. UTC. 102 teams are on the entry list, among them 'Comanche (Jim Cooney AUS)','Christopher Dragon (Andrew & Linda Weiss USA), 'Tiple Lindy' (Joseph Mele USA), 'Warrior One' (Christopher Sheehan USA) and 'Wizard' (David & Peter Askew USA). The weather forecast predicts exceptional rear winds that will favour the big 100-foot-Maxis.

 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2017 - Sydney AUS - 'Wild Oats XI' stroke by lightning As every year, the start to the legendary Sydney-Hobart Race will be given on Sydney Harbour on Boxing Day and among the favorites is again the 100-Foot Maxi 'Wild Oats XI', multiple winner. Four days ago, a lightning bolt hit the boat laying in a dry dock in Sydney for final preparations. Numerous electronic instruments were damaged and currently, the carbon mast is being tested for possible structural defects. It has not yet been decided yet, whether 'Wild Oats XI' will be on the starting line on December 26th.
