Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia -Palma ESP - Final results, McNay/Hughes 10th, Barnard 4th after Medal Races

 Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia -Palma ESP - Final results, McNay/Hughes 10th, Barnard 4th after Medal Races The Trofeo Princes Sofia on Palma Bay was concluded yesterday with the Medal Races sailed in light winds. In 6 of the 10 events, the winners were known prematurely.
The best team overall with the largest lead were Matthews Belcher/Will Ryan AUS in the 470 men, grasping the Trofeo. Cinar/Cinar TUR and Isozaki/Takayanagi JPN took Silver and Bronze. The outcome in the 470 women was very close with Kondo/Yoshioka JPN 2 points ahead of Mills/McIntyre GBR and 3 points ahead of Fahrni/Siegenthaler SUI.
In the 49ers, Lange/Lange ARG won the Medal Race and climbed on top ahead of Fletcher/Bithell GBR and Delpech/Frei FRA on the ranks 2 and 3. Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED had their victory in the 49erFX prematurely but non the less, they won the Medal Race as well. Maloney/Meech NZL and Van Aanholt/Jongens NED completed the podium.
In the Finns, the top ranks did not change: Giles Scott GBR finished first ahead of Nicholas Heiner NED and Andy Maloney NZL. Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA clearly won in the Nacra-17 followed by Ben Saxton/Nicola Boniface GBR and Fernando Echevarri/Tara Pacheco ESP.
In the RS:X men windsurfers, Pawel Tarnowski POL won the Medal Race and herewith the overall rankings. Louis Giard FRA had to content himself with rank 2. Lilan De Geus NED remained on top of the women in front of Pei Na Chen CHN.

 Laser - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Final results, Barnard USA 4th No changes occurred on the podium of the Laser Standard after yesterday's Medal Races. Matthew Wearn AUS was the premature winner before the last heat, and Sam Meech NZL and Tonci Stipanovic CRO remained on the positions 2 and 3. Finishing 5th in the Medal Race, Chris Barnard USA defended the 4th position overall.
In the Radials, Anne-Marie Rindom DEN was the premature winner as well. Alison Young GBR grasped Silver, but Maria Erdi HUN on 3rd relegated the Olympic Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED from the podium.

 Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 5, McNay/Hughes USA and Barnard USA qualified for Medal Races Yesterday, the Trofeo Princesa Sofia was concluded with the Final Series sailed under an overcast sky in the moderate 10kn breeze. In 6 of the 10 events, the final winners are known before the Medal Races of today.
Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS lead in the 470 men with a 35 points advantage on Cinar/Cinar TUR. Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED are 38 points ahead of Odile Van Anholt/Marieke Jongens NED in the 49erFX. In the Finns. the leader Giles Scott GBR is 26 points in front. Nicholas Heiner NED and Andy Maloney NZL will fight for werden Silver and Bronze today. 19 points is the lead of Matthew Wearn AUS on Sam Meech NZL in the Lasers. In the Laser Radial, Anne-Marie Rindom DEN is 23 points ahead of Alison Young GBR. And last-but-not-least the Nacra 17, where Ruggero Tita/Claudia Banti ITA are 34 points away from Saxton/Boniface GBR.
Only in the 470 women, the 49ers and the two RS:X windsurfing fleets, the final outcome will be decided in today's Medal Races.

 Laser - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 5, excellent Chris Barnard USA on 4th qualified for Medal Race Yesterday, the Final Series at the Trofeo Princesa Sofia were concluded with two races per class sailed under an overcast sky in a 10kn breeze.
In the Lasers Standard, the winners of the day were Thomas Saunders NZL and Karl-Martin Rammö EST. In the overall rankings, Matthew Wearn AUS has a 19 points' lead and loosing rank 1 in today's Medal Race is not very likely. Sam Meech NZL and Tonci Stipanovic CRO on the ranks 2 and 3 have also considerable leads on the rest of the fleet. Christopher Barnard USA climbed on the excellent 4th position qualified for today's Medal Race. For Robert Davies CAN 41st and Yanic Gentry MEX 51st, the Trofeo ended yesterday.
In the Radials, the winner is known, as Anne-Marie Rindom DEN is 23 points ahead of Alison Young GBR and Marit Bouwmeester NED on 2nd and 3rd. Emma Plaeschart BEL and Maria Erdi HUN are not far behind. No North Americans are qualified for the Medal Race. Paige Railey USA had a bad day and decended on rank 12 with a 7 points deficit on rank 10. Sarah Douglas CAN 32nd and Elena Oetling MEX 88th concluded the Trofeo yesterday.

 Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 4, five USA teams still with chances to make the Medal Races The Final Series at the Trofeo Princesa Sofia continued yesterday on Palma Bay in sun and a classic thermal breeze around 14kn.
In the 470 men, Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS extended their lead on 31 points, while the ranks 2 to 5 are separated by 4 points only. The experienced teams dominated also in the 470 women. Lecointre/Retornaz FRA lead ahead of Mills/McIntyre GBR and Kondo/Yoshioka JPN.
In the 49ers, Fletcher/Bithell GBR defended their lead. New on rank 2 are Frei/ Delpech FRA. The advantage of Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED in the 49erFX has grown on 23 points. Nielsen/Thusgaard DEN stay on rank 2.
Already by this evening before tomorrow's Medal Race, Giles Scott GBR will be the winner in the Finns, as his advantage is now up on 37 (!) points. Nicholas Heiner NED and Nils Theuninck SUI are the first persuers. Ruggero Tita/Claudia Banti remained on top of the Nacra-17, but thanks to two race wins, Ben Saxton/Nicola Boniface GBR reduced their backlog on 3 points.
In the RS:X windsurfers, Louis Giard FRA and Lilian de Geus NED keep their first places in the men and women fleets.

 Laser - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 4, Barnard USA and Railey USA with chances for the Medal Race Classic Palma thermal conditions with a 12-15kn Southwind prevailed on the second day of the Final Series at the Trofeo Princesa Sofia. Today, two more races are on the program, and tomorrow follow the Medal Races of the best 10.
In the Lasers Standard, Matthew Wearn AUS is now the clear leader with an 18 points' advantage on Sam Meech NZL. Tonci Stipanovic CRO is still on rank 3. The best North American Christopher Barnard USA on rank 10 has a fair chance to make the Medal Race.
A leader change occurred in the Lasers Radial: Anne-Marie Rindom DEN is now 8 points ahead of Marit Bouwmeester NED, who suffered a black-flag disqualification yesterday. Alison Young GBR on the 3rd place is already 28 points behind. Paige Railey USA, 10 points ahead of rank 11, should be able to keep the top-10 result in view of tomorrow's Medal Race.

 Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 3, Luke Muller and Paige Railey in top-10 A major change occurred in the wind scheme on Palma Bay yesterday after the first 2 light-wind days, as a fresh breeze around 18kn filled in. In most classes, the ranking lists changed considerably.
Only in the 470 men, the leaders Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS were as strong as in the days before and won both final heats of the day. At equal points, but with a massive 19 points backlog followed Okada/Hokazano JPN and Diesch/Autenrieth GER on the ranks 2 and 3. In the 470 women, Camille Lecointre/Aloïse Retornaz FRA, strongly coming back after a one-year break, won both heats and lead now 2 points ahead of Mills/McIntyre GBR and auch Kondo/Yoshioka JPN not far back.
The 49ers completefd already 9 races. Fletcher/Bithell GBR defended their first place ahead of Prszybytek/Kolodzsinski POL and Lange/Lange ARG. Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED won 2 of the 3 final races in the 49erFX and extended their lead on Nielsen/Thusgaard DEN and Hansen/Salskov DEN to 18 points.
In the Finns, the favorite Giles Scott GBR took the lead with a huge 20 points' advantage on Tappio Nirkko FIN and Alessio Spadoni ITA. In the Nacra-17, Ruggero Tita/Claudia Banti ITA started to the final series successfully with the rank 2/2/1 building up a considerable lead on Saxton/Bonifaci GBR and Lange/Carranza ARG on the ranks 2 and 3.
In the RS:X windsurfers, the big breeze specialists Louis Giard FRA and Lilian De Geus NED have taken the lead.

 Laser - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 3, Paige Railey USA on the way up The breeze was up to 20kn on Palma Bay yesterday and the big-breeze specialists had their day in the first two final series races sailed in Gold-, Silver and Bronzefleets.
Sam Meech NZL is the new leader in the Lasers Standard, Matthew Wearn AUS as best of the day (1/2) reduced the gap on rank 1 to 3 points. Tonci Stipanovic CRO another toutinier follows on rank 3.
The Olympic Champion Marit Bouwmeester NED moved on top of the Radials in front of the two fresh wind addicts Anne-Marie Rindom DEN and Alison Young GBR on the ranks 2 and 3.

 Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 2, Luke Muller USA 3rd in Finns Light winds prevailed on Palma Bay also on the second day of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia.
In the 470 men, the World Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS, back from a 6-month-break, have taken the lead one point ahead of Isozaki/Takayanagi JPN. Diesch/Autenrieth GER moved up on rank 3. In the 470 women, Noya Bar/Nina Amir ISR are now on rank 1 at equal points with Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI. One point behind follow Böhm/Goliass GER.
In the 49ers, Dylan Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR are now on first with the day ranks 2/1/1. Fischer/Jauvin FRA and Prszybytek/Kolodzsinski POL follow on the positions 2 and 3. Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED have already a 9 points' lead in the 49erFX. Two other experienced teams - Nielsen/Thusgaard DEN and Dobson/Tidey GBR - are on the 2nd and 3rd place.
The day ranks 4 nd 9 brought the Finn Junior European Champion Nils Theuninck SUI on rank one, 4 points ahead of Giles Scott GBR on rank 2. Luke Muller USA and Alejandro Muscat ESP share rank 3. In the Nacra-17, Ben Saxton/Nicola Boniface GBR are the new leaders. Tita/Banti ITA and Echevarri/Pacheco ESP follow on the ranks 2 and 3.
In the RS:X men windsurfers, Yoav Cohen ISR in on first 3 points ahead of Mateo Sanz-Lanz SUI and Bing Ye CHN tied on the ranks 2 and 3. In the RS:X women, Peina Chen CHN is on top in front of Lilian De Geus NED.

 Laser - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 2, Barnard USA 7th Light winds prevailed also on the second day of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia on Palma Bay.
The Laser Youth World Champion Finn Alexander AUS, age 19, defended his first position with another race win in the Standards. One point behind follows Sam Meech NZL on rank 2. Pavlos Kontides CYP moved up on the 3rd place.
In the Radials, Vasileia Karachaliou GRE is the new leader ahead of Marit Bouwmeester NED who moved up on the 2nd place. One point back follows Maud Jayet SUI. The dominator of the day wass Victoria Andrulyte LTU, winning both races of her Group and advanding on the 8th place overall.

 Olympic Classes - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 1, Finn rank 6 of Luke Muller USA only top-10 result of NorAms Yesterday, the first major Olympic Classes regatta in Europe was kicked-off on Palma Bay in light winds. With 1'156 participants from 60 nations, the attendance is an absolute record at Trofeo Princesa Sofia ! Except the Lasers with one race only, all classes sailed the program according to schedule.
In the 470 men, Naoki Ichino/Takashi Hasegawa JPN have taken the lead ahead of Peponnet/Mion FRA and Patience/Grube GBR. In the 470 women, Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI are on rank 1 followed by Böhm/Goliass GER and Kondo/Yoshioka JPN at equal points on rank 2.
With two bullets, the Olympic Champion 2008 Jonas Warrer DEN with his new crew Jakob Precht DEN had a successful comeback after a 2-year-pause. Two race wins also Annemiek Bekkering/Anette Duetz NED in the 49erFX.
In the Finns, Alejandro Muscat ESP stays on top ahead of Giles Scott GBR and Facundo Olezza ARG. Here the report of the Finn class. Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA are on first in the Nacra-17-catamarans one point ahead of the Olympic Champions Santiago Lange/Cecilia Carranza ARG.
In the RS:X men windsurfers, Bing Ye CHN, Yoav Cohen ISR and Makoto Tomizawa JPN won the only race of their Groups each. Peina Chen CHN and Byrony Shaw GBR lead in the RS:X women.

 Laser - Trofeo Princesa Sofia - Palma ESP - Day 1, no NorAm top 10 results The light and unconstant winds on Palma Bay allowed only one race per class in the Lasers on the first day of the Trofeo Princesa Sofia.
The Lasers Standard sail in 3 groups. Finn Alexander AUS, Sam Meech NZL and Lorenzo Chiavarini GBR were the race winners. 181 participants are on the entry list.
The Radials sail in two Groups. The winners of the day were Maud Jayet SUI and Maria Erdi HUN. Vasileia Karachaliou GRE and Nur Shazrin Mohamad Latif MAS finished on rank 2 of their Group.
