Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Final results - Gold for Singapur and Italy

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Final results - Gold for Singapur and Italy Grey skies and slightly stronger winds prevailed in yesterday's final day of the Junior World Championship of the Laser 4.7 in Gdynia. Two further races were completed. In the Boys fleet, the previously clear leader Michael Compton AUS had to let Daniel Hung SGP pass after a terrible day (24/48) and be content with silver. Nevertheless, he did win the title in the U16 classification. Bronze goes to Stefano Viale PER. Guthrie Braun USA finished the championship in 57th place in the Silverfleet (=126th overall out of 275 participants).
In the Girls fleet, Chiara Benini ITA hels on to her lead and won, 10 points ahead of Daniela Chen SGP. Bronze goes to Giorgia Cingolani ITA.
The young Emma Wang USA had a good last day und moved up to 28th in the Silverfleet (=106th overall out of 155 participants)

Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 5

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 5 The final series continued yesterday with two further races at the Junior World Championships of Laser 4.7 in Poland. In the Boys ranking, Michael Compton AUS was the daily best (11/3) and took the lead, 16 points ahead of Stefano Viale PER who advanced to second place overall. Daniel Hung SGP follows close behind in 3rd place. The U-16 sailor Guthrie Braun USA is currently 63rd (=132.) in the Silver Fleet. In the Girls ranking the Italians are still on top: Chiara Benini ITA continues to lead five points ahead of Girgia Cingolani ITA. They are likely to fight for the title among themselves in today's final races, as Simone Chen is SGP in 3rd already 20 points behind the second place. After two BFD's on the previous day, the young US sailor Marina Geilen had a good day in the Silver Fleet (12/20) and advanced to 27th (=105 overall). All Leaderboards.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 4 Yesterday in Poland, the final regattas of the Laser 4.7 Junior World Championships started in the sun and 10-13kn wind. Chiara Benini ITA won both Goldfleet races in the Girls fleet and took the lead by 18 points. Giorgia Cingolani ITA follows on rank 2. Just one point behind is Simone Chen SGP in 3rd place and thus the best of the U16 classification.
Despite a disqualification, Wonn Kye Lee SGP was able to defend his lead in the Goldfleet of the Boys. Thanks to a race win, Doruk Demircan TUR advanced to second, Michael Compton AUS in 3rd is also the leader of the U16 classification. .

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 3 The Laser 4.7 World Championship continued yesterday with two races each. In the overall standings after 5 races, Wonn Kye Lee SGP remains in the lead in the Boys ranking. With two race wins in his group he is now 4 points ahead of Michael Compton AUS who has moved up to second place, and also leading the U16 classification. Third is Sergey Dorodshenko RUS. Guthrie Browne USA is currently 128th.
Among the Girls, Chiara Benini ITA moved up to the lead with a daily 1st and a 2nd. Simone Chen SGP, Ursula Balas CRO and Giorgia Cingolani ITA follow tied in second.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 2 After no racing was possible on the first day due to lack of wind, there were three regattas completed yesterday. Among the Boys - the big fleet is split into 3 groups - Wonn Kye Lee SGP is the first leader, followed by Jordy Llado ESP and Doruk Demircan TUR tied in second and third place. Conrad Miller USA follows on 154th, there are 275 participants in this Championship.
Singapore is also leading among the 155 Girls: Jodie Lai SGP is already 7 points ahead of Giorgia Cingolani ITA, in 3rd place follows Eline Verstraelen BEL. Marina Geilen USA on 54th is best ranked US-Laser in the 155 boat fleet.
