49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Final Day - Gold for Spain and Norway

In 8-12 knots of wind yesterday, there was an intense final day for the Olympic skiffs with four more finals and the medal races. In the 49er, Diego Botin / Iago Lopez ESP clinched the title with a 2nd place in the Medal Race 4 points ahead of Dominik Buksak / Szymon Wierzbicki POL. Dylan Fletcher / Stuart Bithell GBR who won the medal race advanced to third.
In the 49erFX Helene Naess / Marie Roningen NOR confidently took the title with 22 points ahead of the winners of the Medal Race Victoria Jurczok / Annika Lorenz GER. In third place are Sophie Weguelin / Sophie Ainsworth GBR. Stephanie Roble / Margaret Shea USA finished in 5th place overall. As lightweights, Carla and Maria Munte ESP, who were leading juniors ahead of the final day, had no chance in the fresher winds and fell back to sixth place overall.

49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 5

Grey skies and rain marked the 5th day of the European Championships of the Olympic Skiffs. The 49ers were able to sail one race whilst the 49erFX remained ashore all day. The day's victory in the Goldfleet of the 49er went to Lucas Rual / Emile Amoros FRA, who moved up to rank 7 overall. Lukasz Przybytek / Pawel Kolodzinski POL are still in the lead, 4 points ahead of Diego Botin / Iago Lopez ESP who are still in with a shout for the title in today's final races. Already 9 points behind are the defending champions Dylan Fletcher / Stuart Bithell GBR. Justus Böhme and Max Schmidt GER are one point behind in fourth place. Here also the rankings of the Silverfleet and the Bronze Fleet.
In the 49erFX, Carla and Marta Munte ESP remain 8 points ahead of Helene Naess / Marie Ronningen NOR. Sophie Weguelin / Sophie Ainsworth GBR are a further point back in 3 rd, with an excellent chance to win a medal today. 49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 4

After some delay, the 49erFX started with their final regattas in Gold- and Silverfleet in light winds. Although a thunderstorm in the afternoon prevented racing in the Gold and Silverfleets of the 49er. Only the bronze Fleet managed to finish at least one race. Among the women in the 49erFX three races were sailed. As the only team, Carla and Maria Munte ESP achieved three single digit results in the 49erFX fleet, taking the lead, 8 Points ahead of Helena Naess / Marie Ronningen NOR. One point behind the second is Sophie Weguelin / Sophie Ainsworth GBR on rank 3. In the Silverfleet (26-48 ranks) Megan Brickwood / Ellie Aldridge GBR took the lead, with Livia Naef / Nehlia Puhze SUI following a point behind them on rank 2.
After the two races of the Bronze Fleet, William Jones / Evan Depaul CAN are leading.

49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 3

Difficult sailing conditions, with light winds and waves prevailed yesterday to complete the qualifiers at the joint European Championships of the two Olympic skiff classes. The 49ers had a little more wind in the morning. With around 8 knots all 3 races were completed. But there were numerous OCS disqualifications. Lukasz Przybitek / Pawel Kolodzinski POL are still in the lead, but Diego Botin / Jago Lopez ESP who had two daily firsts yesterday moved up and are now just one point behind in second place. Yago and Klaus Lange ARG follow in 3 rd, 10 points behind. Fourth are Justus Schmidt / Max Böhme GER a further point back.
The 49erFX had to sail in the afternoon when the wind dropped to 5 knots. In these conditions only one race was completed. Helene Naess / Marie Ronningen NOR defended their lead, Sophie Weguelin and Sophie Ainsworth GBR are 2 nd, 6 points behind, Carla Munte and Marta Munte ESP and Stephanie Roble / Margaret Shea USA are tied in 3 rd, just two points behind the English girls.

 49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 2 In fresh winds both classes were able to sail 4 races each. In the 49erFX Helen Näss / Marie Röninngen NOR took the lead with 3 race wins. Carla and Marta Munté ESP are 3 points behind and Stephanie Roble / Margarete Shea USA still in third place overall.
In the 49er Klaus Iago Lange ARG and Lukasz Przybitek / Pawel Kolodzinski POL are tied in the lead. 2 points behind are William Philipps / Iain Jensen AUS on rank 3. The Daily Report.

Nacra 17 - European Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL

 Nacra 17 - European Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL After yesterday's end of the Laser U21 World Championship, the European Championship of the Nacra 17 catamarans began yesterday in Gdynia. Three races were completed. The first leaders are Ben Saxton / Niki Boniface GBR, Gemma Jones / Jason Saunders NZL follow a point behind in second place. Another point behind are the favorites Ruggero Tita / Caterina Banti ITA, who dominated racing so far this season.  49er & 49er FX - European Championship 2018 - Gdynia POL - Day 1 Light winds between 5 and 8 knots prevailed on the first day of the joint EM of the Olympic Skiff classes in Poland. With the daily ranks 1/1/2, William Philipps / Ian Jensen AUS are the first leaders in the 49er. Lübeck / Lübeck DEN and Prszybytek / Kolodsinki POL follow in ranks 2 and 3.
In the 49erFX 4 races were completed. Sophie Weguelin / Sophie Ainsworth GBR are leading one point ahead of Carla and Marta Munte ESP. In 3rd place follow Stephanie Roble / Marta Shea USA. The Daily Report and the Videos.
