RS:X-Windsurfing - World Championship - Torbole ITA - Final results - Olympic berths for US Sailing Team, Gold for CHN & NED

 RS:X-Windsurfing - World Championship - Torbole ITA - Final results - Olympic berths for US Sailing Team, Gold for CHN & NED Yunxiu Lu CHN controlled the Medal race in the RS:X women fleet, winning another important international title. The duel for Silver and Bronze went in favour of Katy Spychakov ISR replacing the defending Champion Lilian De Geus NED on rank 2. ----- The nine Olympic nations berths have been allocated to HKG, BRA, PER, FIN, MEX (Mariana Aguilar Chavez Peon 42nd), HUN, TUR, USA (Farrah Hall 56th) and THA. ----- In the RS:X men, Kiran Badloe NED and Olympic Champion Dorian Van Rijsselberghe NED celebrated a double Dutch victory ...but this time in the opposite sequence compared to last year. Pierre Le Coq FRA dropped on rank 3. ----- The Olympic nation berths went to KOR, HKG, BLR, SUI, LTU, USA (Pedro Pascual, 42nd), CYP and CZE. ----- The morning Northwind did not fill in on the final day of the RS:X Windsurfing World Championship on Lake Garda ITA, and the final fleetraces had to be cancelled. The best 10 female and male windsurfers ready for the Medal Races were kept waiting, and finally, around 3 p.m. one hour before the time limit, a light Ora breeze enabled racing for the Medals. ----- The final results of all North Americans, the final report and the videos.

 RS:X-Windsurfing - World Championship - Torbole ITA - Day 4 - last races today, Farrah Hall, Pedro Pascual and Ignacio Berenguer (MEX) fight for an Olympic berth Leader change on top of the RS:X women after the three races of yesterday, held in a well-estblished morning Peler, with Yunxiu Xu CHN, ranks 8/4/1, already dominator of the Olympic Test and the Worldcup events in Japan last month, replacing the defending Champion Lilian De Geus NED on rank 1, with a 6 point advantage before the Medal Race of today. Katy Spychakov ISR, 8 points back, remains in the fight for the title. The RS:X women Goldfleet ranking list. ----- 7 of the 9 Olympic nation berths were allotted after the Qualification races already. The two remaining slot will be decided in the last Silverfleet race today. Farah Hall USA (rank 3 Silverfleet, 154 pts) and Siripon Kaewduang-Ngam THA (rank 4, 160 pts) own the qualifying places, but Veerle Ten Have NZL (rank 5, 160 pts) and Gelly Skarlatou GRE (rank 6, 166 pts) are not far away. ----- The RS:X men completed only one race in the slackening Northwind yesterday and remained ashore in the afternoon as the Ora failed to fill in. Kiran Badloe NED finished 3rd and extended the lead on Pierre Le Coq FRA to 5 points. Dorian Van Rijsselberghe NED on 3rd is already 15 points back and will hardly have a chance for the title in the Medal Race of today. The RS:X men Goldfleet ranking list.----- Concerning the Olympic nation berths, a first decision was made in favour of Korea with Wonwoo Cho KOR qualified for the Medal Race. Good chances have also HKG (rank 13), BLR (23rd), SUI (25th) and LTU (33rd). The remaining 3 places are occupied at present by the USA (Pedro Pascual, 42nd), CZE (46th) and RUS (52nd), challenged by TUR (55th) and MEX (56th Ignacio Berenguer, 3 points behind cut). ----- The updated results of all North Americans, the daily news and the videos.

RS:X-Windsurfing - World Championship - Torbole ITA - Day 3, USA still qualified for an Olympic men berth, MEX out

Leader change in the RS:X men yesterday: Kiran Badloe NED replaced Pierre Le Coq FRA on top by one point. As best of the day, the Olympic Champion Dorian Van Rijsselberge NED moved up on rank 3. ----- The North Americans in the Goldfleet are on the positions 43 (Geronimo Nores USA), 47 (Pedro Pascual USA) and 57 (Ignacio Berenguer MEX). ----- Concerning the 2020 Olympic nations berths, KOR (rank 8), HKG (14th) and BLR (24th) seem to be on a safe way to Tokyo. LTU (30th), SUI (34th), CYP (40th), USA (44th) and CZE (48th) occupy the remaining qualification positions. MEX as 13th nation is 33 points behind the 8-place-cut and too far away from the Games. ----- No change on top of the RS:X women, inspite of the fact, that the leading Lilian De Geus NED sailed her discard result (rank 21). Giorgia Speciale ITA, 2 points behind on rank 2, as well as Katy Spychakow ISR on the 3rd place considerably reduced the gap to rank 1. ----- Mariana Aguilar Chavez Peon MEX is 46th. ----- Yesterday, the men completed three Northwind races, while the women could only sail one race in the afternoon in a light Ora breeze. ----- Today, three more races are on the program for the Gold- and Silverfleets.  RS:X-Windsurfing - World Championship - Torbole ITA - Day 2, four North Americans make Goldfleet, RS:X women nation berth for MEX Yesterday, Lilian De Geus NED took the overall lead in the RS:X women 3 points ahead of Yunxiu Lu CHN on 2nd. Marta Maggetti ITA is down on 3rd. ----- 7 of the 9 non-qualified nations for 2020 Olympia Tokyo made the cut for the Goldfleet. HKG, BRA, PER, FIN, MEX (with Mariana Aguilar Chavez Peon (U21) on 42nd), HUN and TUR secured herewith the nations berths for the Olympic regatta. ----- In the RS:X men, Pierre Le Coq FRA defended his first place over Kiran Badloe NED 2 points behind. The persuers, led by Piotr Myszka POL, are 11 and more points back. ----- 13 not yet qualified 2020 contenders will continue racing in the Goldfleet with the goal to get one of the 8 Olympic berths, i.e. KOR, HKG, SUI, BLT, LIT, CYP, USA (with Pedro Pascual 42nd and Geronimo Nores 48th), RUS,HUN, TUR, CZE, MEX (with Ignacio Berenguer MEX) und MLT. Hong Kong on rank 15 is the best placed candidate. ---- Three races were completed yesterday - two in the morning in a 15kn Northwind and one in the afternoon in 5-18kn Ora.  RS:X-Windsurfing - World Championship - Torbole ITA - Day 1, Nores USA 11th after 3 races After the three races on the opening day, Pierre Le Coq FRA has taken the lead in the RS:X men windsurfers ahead of Kiran Badloe NED and Tom Squires GBR. ----- By far best of the 11 North American participants was Geronimo Nores (U21) on rank 11 as second best of the eight nations still seeking a 2020 Olympic nations berths behind Hongkong (rank 8). Ignacio Berenguer MEX on rank 36 and 7th non-qualified nation is also on a promising position. ----- In the RS:X women windsurfers, Marta Maggetti ITA is on top 3 points ahead of Emma Wilson GBR, Zofia Noceti-Klepacka POL and Maya Morris ISR on the ranks 2 to 4. ----- Best of the so far in the Pre-Olympics and Worldcup in Japan dominating Chinese women is Peina Chen CHN on rank 10. ----- Best of the six North American women was Demita Vega De Lille MEX, rank 46, as 8th nation just within the Olympic berth qualifiers. Farrah Hall USA on rank 63, 12th nation, is 14 points behind the Mexican. ----- Three races were held yesterday on Lake Garda in both fleets, the men in a 12-16kn Peler (Northwind) and the women in an intital 10kn, freshening to 15kn Ora (Southwind) in the afternoon. ----- The results of all North American participants. ----- The news with the ranking lists. ----- Today is the last day of qualifying series racing when the fleets will be split into Gold and Silver fleets.  RS:X-Windsurfing - World Championship - Torbole ITA - Start today with 11 North American participants Today begins the World Championship of the Olympic RS:X windsurfers on Lake Garda with 130 men from 40 nations and 5 continents, as well as 106 women from 36 nations and 5 continents. Olympic hopefulls (see list) from all three North American federations are among the participants. ----- In addition to the Champion titles, nation berths for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Regatta are at stake. 10 places had been allotted at the 2018 Worlds (11 in the women), 8 more per class can be earned now.
