2.4m, Skud18, Sonar Paralympic World Championship 2016 Medemblik NED Final results, Gold for Doerr USA and his team in the Sonars
The Paralympic Classes World Championship 2016 ended yesterday with two races.
The big advantage of Heiko Kröger GER in the 2.4m keelboat before the last races yesterday was more than sufficient to grasp the World Champion's title, his 9th in the class. Damien Séguin FRA and Matt Bugg AUS earned Silver and Bronze. Clear victory in the Skud-18 as well where Monika Gibes/Piotr Cichocki POL, a new name on top of the class, easily defended their first place. The defending champions Daniel Fitzgibbon/Liesl Tesch AUS dropped on 3rd behind Alexandra Rickham/Nikki Birrell GBR after a disqualification. The closest fight for the title was in the Sonars where only the last downwind played in favour of Alphonsus Doerr/Hugh Freund/Brad Kendell USA finishing one point ahead of John Robertson/Hannah Stodel/Stephen Thomas GBR. The Bronze Medal went to Colin Harrison AUS and his team.
