 IRC  Atlantic Rally for Cruisers  Las Palmas ESP  Day 7
The about 200 teams of the Atlantic Rally split in two fleets, have been underway for quite some days now.
The first fleet, having left the Canaries 14 days ago, rounded the Cape Verdes before heading for St-Lucia and is now already approaching the Caribbeans. 'Altair' of Clinton Bolton AUS is far ahead and will reach the finish line this morning as winner. 500nm behind follows the second-ranked 'Quiviana Primero', the Bénéteau 50 of Javier Bereincua ESP.
The leaders of the second fleet, that left Las Palmas/Gran Canaria a week ago, sailing directly to St-Lucia, is about half-way over the Atlantic. The two multihulls 'Guyader Gastronomie' with Christian Guyader FRA and 'Saudade' of Christof Petter AUT are in the lead.
