Olympic Games 2021 - Tokyo JPN - a financial impact not only for the Organisers and the IOC but also Sports Federations
The postponement of the Olympic Games is very expensive for the Organizing Authorities, and as a consequence also for the IOC. Missing or delayed sponsor money will have a major impact on the revenue streams of the IOC and with it also the quadrennial payments to the International Sports Federations, the major income for small Federations to run their operations. Extremely affected is the financially mismanaged World Sailing that spent the 2016 money by the end of last year already. The situation will be tight. A must-read comment by Sailing Illustrated.
