IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Day 26 the parade moving cautiously in rough seas
With fresh winds partly over 30kn and big waves, the South Indian Ocean lives up to its reputation! We reported in the last days about the numerous accidents. Caution is the motto of the hour: even the leaders sail very prudently and therefore slower in the fresh winds. ----- Charlie Dalin FRA ('Apivia', Foiler) continues to lead, now 148nm ahead of Louis Burton FRA ('Bureau La Vallée', Foiler). Thomas Ruyant FRA ('LinkedOut', Foiler) is 3rd, 202nm behind. Damien Séguin FRA ('Groupe Apicil', Non-Foiler) caught up 80nm yesterday and is now 355nm in arrear as 4th. One of the winners of the last few days is Isabelle Joschke FRA/GER ('MACSF', Foiler), who has moved up to 9th place 531nm back. The three battered Open 60s of Alex Thomson GBR, Samantha Davis GBR, and Sébastien Simon FRA sail towards Cape Town, most likely to abandon the race definitively. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
