IMOCA Open 60 Vendee Globe Day 59 Leading duo progressing slowly
Over the South Atlantic, a flat high-pressure system provides a first obstacle on the way north. Yannick Bestaven FRA ('Maître Coq') progressing at only 6.7kn this morning UTC is about to lose some of his lead. But Charlie Dalin FRA ('Apivia'), now 210nm behind, is only making 6.4kn as well. Still on a fast pace are Thomas Ruyant FRA ('LinkedOut') and, sailing in the far south, Damien Seguin FRA ('Groupe Apicil'), both 299nm behind. ----- Isabelle Joschke FRA/GER ('MASCF') has picked up speed (19.5kn) in spite of the blocked swing keel, and is now 10th, just ahead of Boris Herrmann GER ('SeaExplorer') back in the race after repairing the torn mainsail. Early this morning UTC, Clarisse Cremer FRA ('Banque Populaire') and Armel Tripon FRA ('L'Occitane') rounded Cape Horn in 12th and 13th. It will take a few days for the next group, led by the still amazing Pip Hare GBR ('Medallia'), to reach the Atlantic. ----- The race tracker and the reports.
