Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Final results, Robert Davis CAN 7th Laser Standard

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Final results, Robert Davis CAN 7th Laser Standard The first ISAF Olympic Classes Worldcup 2016 event was concluded in Melbourne this morning with the Medal Races. The Paralympic Classes terminated their competition already yesterday. Damien Séguin FRA finished first in the 2.4m keelboats, Daniel Fitzgibbon/Liesl Tesch AUS won in the SKUD-18 and in the Sonars, Colin Harrison AUS and his team were on top.
The Olympic Classes finished the competition with the Medal Races. A 3rd rank was good enough for Colin Cheng SIN to defend his lead in the Lasers Standard. Thomas Saunders NZL and Jeremy O'Conell AUS completed the podium. The only North Americans in Melbourne were the Canadian Laser Team with Robert Davis CAN 7th, Lee Parkhill CAN 9th and Evert McLaughlin CAN 13. The Lasers Standard were the biggest fleet at this Worldcup event with 35 participants, but the top helmsmen were not present. .
In the Lasers Radial, Ashley Stoddart AUS defended her lead ahead of Susannah Pyatt NZL, who replaced Tatiana Droszdowskaya BLR, only 8th in the Medal Race, on the 2nd place overall.

 Laser - ISAF Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Final results, Robert Davis CAN 7th The first ISAF Olympic Classes Worldcup 2016 event was concluded in Melbourne this morning with the Medal Races.
A 3rd rank was good enough for Colin Cheng SIN to defend his lead in the Lasers Standard. Thomas Saunders NZL and Jeremy O'Conell AUS completed the podium. Only the Canadian Laser Team represented North America in Melbourne with Robert Davis CAN 7th, Lee Parkhill CAN 9th and Evert McLaughlin CAN 13th. The Laser Standards were the biggest fleet with 35 entrants, but the top helmsmen were absent at this Worldcup event.
In the Lasers Radial, Ashley Stoddart AUS defended her lead ahead of Susannah Pyatt NZL, who replaced Tatiana Droszdowskaya BLR, only 8th in the Medal Race, on the 2nd place overall.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 4, Robert Davis CAN 8th No races yesterday because of too much wind, but this morning UTC racing resumed and three heats per class have been completed.
Colin Cheng SIN consolidated his lead in the Lasers Standard with two race wins and is now 10 points in front of Mitchell Kennedy AUS. Thomas Saunders NZL and Anders Karlsson SWE follow on 3rd at equal points. The best of the Canadian Team is now Robert Davis as 8th, Lee Parkhill is 10th, Evert McLaughlin CAN 13th.
Ashley Stoddart AUS is on the first place in the Lasers Radial 3 points ahead of Tatjana Droszdowskaya BLR. Susannah Pyatt NZL stays on the 3rd place.
Florian Gruber GER dominates the Kiteboarders and is now 10 points ahead.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 2, the Canadians Parkhill and Davis on 7 and 8 After the windy opening day with an up to 30 kn breeze, the Melbourne Worldcup event continued this morning on time and most of the classes completed their program with two heats.
Colin Cheng SIN has taken the lead in the Lasers Standard with the day ranks 1 and 3, and is now 2 points ahead of Thomas Saunders NZL on rank 2. The best European Giovanni Coccoluto ITA is on the 5th place and tied on the ranks 7 and 8 are the best Canadians Lee Parkhill CAN and Robert Davis CAN.
Susannah Pyatt NZL moved up on rank 1 in the Lasers Radial with two race wins, ahead of Ashley Stoddart NZL at equal points. Tatiana Droszdovskaya BLR on 3rd has a 1 point's backlog.
Leaders in the other Olympic classes with very small fleets, are mostly internationally active teams from Australia, dominating the races. To mention among the numerous non-Olympic events the Kiteboarders with Florian Gruber GER as leader winning all 8 runs so far.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 2, the Canadians Parkhill and Davis on 7 and 8 After the windy opening day with an up to 30 kn breeze, the Melbourne Worldcup event continued this morning on time and the Lasers completed their program with two heats.
Colin Cheng SIN has taken the lead in the Lasers Standard with the day ranks 1 and 3, and is now 2 points ahead of Thomas Saunders NZL on rank 2. The best European Giovanni Coccoluto ITA is on the 5th place and tied on the ranks 7 and 8 are the best Canadians Lee Parkhill CAN and Robert Davis CAN.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 1 The first ISAF Olympic Classes Worldcup event 2016 began this morning in Melbourne. Once more, the concept of ISAF to make the Worldcup the major sail-racing event, did not work, as except the Lasers and Paralympic Classes with their World Championships a week ago, the non-OZ-attendance is practically nil.
The frist races today have already been finished and the first results are available. Winner of the first Laser Standard heat was Afendy Khairulnizam MAS ahead of Mark Spearman AUS. In the Lasers Radial, Tatiana Droszdowskaja BLR was on rank 1 ahead of Ashley Stoddart AUS.
More results will be published during this morning UTC.

The first ISAF Olympic Classes Worldcup event 2016 began this morning in Melbourne. The today's races have already been finished with Mitchell Kennedy AUS leading in the Lasers Standard ahead of Anders Carlsson SWE and Evert McLaughlin CAN 3rd as best of four Canadians. No US participators. In the Lasers Radial, Ashley Stoddart AUS and Tatiana Droszdowskaja BLR are sharing the lead.
