World Match Racing Tour 2016 - Congressional Cup - Long Beach CA, USA - Day 1

 World Match Racing Tour 2016 - Congressional Cup - Long Beach CA, USA - Day 1 Stage two of the World Match Race Tour, the Congressional Cup in California, began yesterday with a 6-8 kn SW wind providing classic Long Beach conditions. Four Qualifying flights were pulled off smartly, until a sudden wind shift put racers practically on the beach. After a lengthy postponement the wind shifted right again, and built to a stunning 20+ kn.
Nicolai Sehested DEN, racing in his first Congressional Cup, was the day’s best winning all 5 heats and leading with a 5-0 score. Phil Robertson NZL and Chris Steele NZL follow with 4-1 each on 2nd and 3rd, while Eric Monnin SUI, Bjorn Hansen SWE and Johnie Berntsson SWE are ranked 5th to 7th with a w/l record of 3-2. The negative news come from the World Champion Ian Williams GBR as backmarker of the fleet with a 0-5 score.

 The Final of the Monsoon-Cup were sailed yesterday after copy deadline. It was a clear matter for Ian Williams who defeated his last challenger Taylor Canfield ISV 3-0 and defended his last year's title winning with this victory his 6th World Champion's title. As reported yesterday, it was Björn Hansen SWE who won the Petit Final 2-0 against Eric Monnin SUI. The results and the final report.

 World Match Racing Tour - Monsoon Cup - Johor MAS - Final Day The Semi Finals of the Monsoon Cup were sailed this morning in Malaysia without surprises as the best matchracers of the past two years and favorites Ian Williams GBR and Taylor Canfield ISV won both their Semi clearly with a 3-0 score. The best-of-five Final will begin in few moments, to follow livestream on this website. Already finished is the best-of-three Petit Final with the Semi Final losers Björn Hansen SWE and Eric Monnin SUI, where the Swedish team had the upper hand with 2 wins to 0. However, the qualification for the Semis was a success ranking- (and prize money-wise, as he will move up on 5th in the Final Tour Rankings. The results and the latest news.
