Die dritte und doppelt zählende Wettfahrt des Tages gewann das 'Red Bull Sailing Team' von Roman Hagara AUT und rückte damit auf Rang 2 vor. 'BAR Academy' mit Leigh McMillan GBR beendet die Serie auf Rang 3. 'Alinghi' mit Ernesto Bertarelli SUI vergab im Schlusslauf mit einem 6. Light and patchy winds prevailed on the third day of the Oman Extreme Sailing Series and the 8 GC32 cats were barely lifted out of the water. 'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA continued winning and extended her overall lead to an extent that all but an overall victory today would be a major surprise. The second-best team of the day was the Turkish 'Turx' with Stevie Morrison GBR advancing on rank 6 overall. The fight for the other two podium places behind the Omanis will be tight as 'SAP Sailing Team' with Jes Gram-Hansen DEN is only 3 points ahead of the 'BAR Racing Team' with Leigh McMillan GBR, and 'Alinghi' with Ernesto Bertarelli SUI follows only one point behind.

'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA extended her lead on 14 points, and only 'SAP' with Jes Gram-Hansen DEN can more or less follow the Omani team. Roman Hagara with his 'Red Bull' is new on rank 3. 'BAR' (Bleddyn Môn GBR) and 'Alinghi' (Ernesto Bertarelli SUI) are tied on the ranks 4 and 5.

'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA came full speed out of the blocks with 4 race wins taking the interim's lead with a 7 points' advantage on the second-ranked 'SAP Sailing Team' with Jes Gram-Hansen DEN and 11 points on 'BAR Academy' with Bleddyn Môn GBR.

The Extreme Sailing Series 2016 begins today in Oman for the first time with the foiling GC32 catamarans. 8 teams are on the entry list, among them 'China One' with Taylor Canfield ISV and 'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA. The competition will start with a Coastal Race, followed by 'Stadium-Racing' with short races just in front of the Muscat harbour. The preview and the event website, where the results will be posted early this afternoon.
