49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Final results

 49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Final results The 49er (and America's Cup Team New Zealand members) Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL are the absolute dominators in Olympic sailing ! Winners in the Open Rankings before the Medal Race already, they did not relax in the last heat and finished the Championship again with a first race rank. With a 60 points (!) advantage, they are for the fourth time on top of the European Championship and remained undefeated since 4 years and 25 regattas ! Silver went to Nathan Outteridge/Iain Jensen AUS. Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP earned Bronze (and are herewith the official European Champions), as Delle-Karth/Resch AUT finished last in the Medal Race descending on 4th. With Bildstein/Hussl AUT on 8th, a second Austrian team is in the top-ten. Ryan/Henken USA fnished 22nd, Barrows/Morris USA 42nd.
In the 49ersFX, it was the day of Jena-Mai Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN yesterday with the ranks 4/2/1 in the last fleetraces and a 2nd place in the Medal Race, allowing them to jump from rank 4 to the top position and taking the European Champion's title. With a 2 points' backlog, the defending champions Giulia Conti/Francesca Clapcich ITA finished 2nd. Tamara Echegoyen/Berta Betanzos ESP earned Bronze thanks to more race wins compared with the tied Francesca Travascio/Marie-Sol Brandt ARG. A black-flag disqualification of Henken/Scutt USA killed all hopes for the Medal Race (31 points away) and left them on rank 13th. Rafuse/Boyd CAN are 22nd.

49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Day 5 with USA and CAN teams

 49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Day 5 with USA and CAN teams The overcast sky allowed for a light and unconstant seabreeze only, but nevertheless, both classes completed three races each. Only a few realized three good results.
Despite of a flopped race - rank 17 - Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL extended once more their lead in the 49ers on now 41 points. The last three fleetraces and the Medal Race will hardly prevent them from winning their fourth European Champions' title in row. Nathan Outteridge/Iain Jensen AUS on 2nd have a 15 points' advance on Delle-Karth/Resch AUT, team of the day with the ranks 4/4/6. Ryan/Henken USA are now 23rd after a 5th race rank yesterday. Barrows/Morris USA however are down on 40th with a DNF.
Giulia Conti/Francesca Clapcich ITA defended their first place in the 49ersFX. They have a 10 points' advance on Victoria Travascio/Marie-Sol Branz ARG before the last races today. Chances for the title have also the 3rd-ranked Tamara Echegoyen/Berta Betanzos ESP and yesterday's best (4/2/4) Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL now on rank 4. Ranks 21/19/29 was nor what Henken/Scutt USA needed to approach the top-10 for the Medal Race. They dropped on rank 16, 35 points behind rank 10. Rafuse/Boyd CAN are 22nd.

 49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Day 4, Henken/Scutt not far from Medal Race The Final Series at the 49er European Championships in Barcelona began yesterday in a well established 13 to 18 kn seabreeze.
With the ranks 1/6/1, Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL extended their lead in the 49ers once more on now 34 points. Nathan Outteridge/Ian Jensen AUS on 2nd are 19 points ahead of John Pink/Stuart Bithell GBR on their way to make the UK selection for Rio. Ryan/Henken USA remained on the 25th position in the Goldfleet. Barrows/Morris USA sailing in the Silverfleet - ranks 14/3/DSQ - are now 37th.
Winning the last of the three races of the day, Tamara Echegoyen/Berta Betanzos ESP moved up on top of the 49erFX rankings, but Giulia Conti/Francesca Clapcich ITA are only one point behind. New on rank 3 are Jena Mai-Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN. In the race for the title remain also Annemiek Bekkering/Anette Duetz NED, who - overall leading the fleet - did not sail in the strong winds two days ago. With the ranks 1/1/3, they were the best of the day and moved up on rank 5 again with with a 16 points' backlog on rank 1. Henken/Scutt USA on rank 12 are only 7 points from the Medal Race. Rafuse/Boyd CAN are 20th.

49er, 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Day 4, Ryan/Henken USA qualified for Goldfleet

 49er, 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Day 4, Ryan/Henken USA qualified for Goldfleet The Qualification Series to split the fleet in Gold and Silver Groups ended yesterday for the first time in a fresher wind.
Winning two more races, Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL extended their lead in the 49ers on 24 points already, and nobody doubts, that they will grasp another title in Barcelona. The Olympic Champions 2012 Nathan Outteridge/Ian Jensen AUS moved up on rank 2, followed at equal points by John Pink/Stuart Bithell GBR. Delle-Karth/Resch AUT descended on the 4th place. Bildstein/Hussl AUT are on rank 5. With the ranks 24 and 5, Ryan/Henken USA just made the Goldfleet as 24th. Barrows/Morris (11/25) continue as 32nd the Championship in the Silverfleet.
In the 49ersFX, the rough conditions caused numerous capsizes, and there was hardly a team that remained without incidents. The previous leaders Bekkerink/Duetz NED had even to leave out both races of the day. New on top are now the World Champions Giulia Conti/Francesca Clapcich ITA, just one point ahead of Victoria Travascio/Maria-Sol Brand ARG. Tamara Echegoyen/Berta Betanzos ESP follow on the 3rd position. Henken/Scutt USA are 15th, Rafuse/Boyd CAN 24th.

 49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Day 2 with USA and CAN teams Less and not as stable as on day one was the seabreeze of Barcelona yesterday, but nevertheless, both fleets completed four races each.
Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL earned another two bullets and remain a class of their own leading with a 10 points' advance on Delle-Karth/Resch AUT. Pink/Bithell GBR moved up on rank 3, closely followed by Outteridge/Jensen AUS on 4th. With Bildstein/Hussl AUT as 5th, the astonishing Austrians have two teams in the top-five ! Today, 4 races are again on the program before the best 25 resume racing in the Goldfleet on Thursday. Ryan/Henken USA are just on the rank 25 cut, Barrows/Morris USA follow closely behind on the 26th place.
Giulia Conti/Francesca Clapcich ITA have taken the lead in the 49ersFX, 3 points ahead of the previous firsts Bekkering/Duetz NED. As best of the day (1/2/3), Dobson/Ainsworth GBR advanced on rank 3. Henken/Scutt USA are 19th, Rafuse/Boyd CAN 26th.

 49er & 49erFX - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Day 1, with USA and CAN teams Sun and a moderate seabreeze prevailed yesterday on the first day of the Olympic 49er European Championship in Barcelona ESP. The favorites have already taken the command after three races sailed in two Groups.
In the 49ers, Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL, undefeated since 2012, are the clear leaders with the day ranks 1/1/2, 6 points ahead of Delle-Karth/Resch AUT. The Olympic Champions Outteridge/Jensen AUS follow on the 3rd place. Barrows/Morris USA are 27th, Ryan/Henken USA 46th among 72 starters.
Annemiek Bekkering/Annette Duetz NED finished all 4 heats on rank 1, and lead ahead of Echegoyen/Betanzos ESP, Lutz/Beucke GER and Conti/Clapcich ITA on rank 2 with the same number of points. Rafuse/Boyd CAN are 20th, Henken/Scutt USA 23rd among 36 starters.
