 Laser Standard - World Championship 2016 - Nuevo Vallarta MEX - Final results, best NorAms 27th and 29th The Laser Standard World Championship in Mexico was concluded yesterday with two races sailed in a moderate seabreeze. The clearly leading Nick Thompson GBR heated up the suspense with a bad first race, but with an excellent second race, all hopes were over for his challengers and he secured his second World Champion's title in a row. Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA defended the Silver Medal and the best of the day (ranks 1 and 3), Rutger Van Schaardenburg NED, jumped from rank 8 on rank 3. Matthew Wearn AUS missed a medal by 2 points. The Laser legend Robert Scheidt BRA dropped on rank 10. Chris Barnard USA is 27th, Robert Davis CAN 31st.

 Laser Standard - World Championship 2016 - Nuevo Vallarta MEX - Day 6, Barnard USA 24th Two races were sailed yesterday, again in freshening winds, and all went in favour of the defending Champion Nick Thompson GBR. As best of the day - ranks 1 and 7 - he has now a 19 points' lead on the 2nd Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA before the last two races today. Another 12 points back follow at equal points Pavlos Kontides CYP and Matthew Wearn AUS. Robert Scheidt BRA on 4th is 9 points behind the Bronze. Chris Barnard USA is 24th, Robert Davis CAN 31st.

 Laser Standard - World Championship 2016 - Nuevo Vallarta MEX - Day 5, Barnard USA 20th The first two Final Series races of the Laser Standard World Championship off the Mexican Pacific Coast were sailed yesterday in a 15 kn seabreeze. Man of the day was the Cypriot Olympic Medalist Pavlos Kontides CYP, winner of both heats and advancing on rank 5. The positions on top of the classifications remained unchanged but the gaps between the top sailors got closer. Nick Thompson GBR remains on rank 1 with Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA on 2nd reducing his backlof on 4 points. Robert Scheidt BRA on 3rd came closer as well and his deficit is now 15 points. Chris Barnard USA had a mixed day - ranks 3 and 56 - and is on 20th overall. Robert Davis CAN is 32nd.

 Laser Standard - World Championship 2016 - Nuevo Vallarta MEX - Day 4, Barnard USA 23rd and three Canadians in the Goldfleet The Qualification Series of the Laser Standard World Championship in Mexico ended yesterday with two races sailed in a 9-12 kn breeze, lighter than on the previous days. Most of the favorites remained in the top ranks even in these conditions.
Finishing on the ranks 2 and 4, Nick Thompson GBR extended his lead on 5 points. Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA remains the first challenger. New on rank 3 is Robert Scheidt BRA, while Tonci Stipanovic CRO descended on rank 4 after a failed race (rank 25). As best of the day with two 2nd places, Wannes Van Laer BEL moved up on the 5th position. The NorAm sailors qualified for the Goldfleet are Chris Barnard USA 23rd and the Canadians Evert McLaughlin 39th, Robert Davis 40th and Lee Parkhill 46th.

 Laser Standard - World Championship 2016 - Nuevo Vallarta MEX - Day 3, Barnard USA now 21st Good conditions with a 12-15 kn seabreeze prevailed also on the third day at the Laser Standard Worlds in Mexico.
Finishing 1 and 2 in his Group, Nick Thompson GBR reclaimed the first place in the overall rankings 3 points ahead of Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA. With Tonci Stipanovic CRO, Matthew Wearn AUS and Robert Scheidt BRA, three co-favorites follow on the ranks 3-5. Philipp Buhl GER moved up on the 6th place, and also the World Ranking leader Tom Burton AUS is on the way up after his failed first day. With a bullet yesterday, he is now on the 8th place overall. Chris Barnard USA is 21st, Robert Davis CAN 40th. Two crucial qualification races will be sailed today.

 Laser Standard - World Championship 2016 - Nuevo Vallarta MEX - Day 2, Barnard USA 22nd, McLaughlin CAN 39th The Laser Standard World Championship in Mexico continued yesterda with two races sailed in a moderate seabreeze. The day winners were Tonci Stipanovic CRO and Marco Gallo ITA in one Group, while Luke Elliott AUS and Pavlos Kontides CYP finished first in the other Group. In the overall rankings, the first 7 are separated by 5 points only. Now on top is now Tonci Stipanovic CRO one point ahead of Nick Thompson GBR. Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA advanced on the 3rd place. Chris Barnard USA is 22nd, Evert McLaughlin CAN 39th.

 Laser Standard - World Championship 2016 - Nuevo Vallarta MEX - Day 1, best NorAm Barnard USA 33rd The Laser Standard World Championship 2016 began yesterday at the Mexican Pacific Coast in a 12-15 kn wind. The 112 boats' fleet has been split in two groups.
The first leader with two race wins is the defending Champion Nick Thompson GBR. With Tonci Stipanovic CRO and Matthew Wearn AUS, two co-favorites follow in the ranks 2 and 3. Jean-Baptiste Bernaz FRA is 4th. The World Ranking List leader Nick Burton AUS had a bad day and is only 35th for the moment. The 9-fold Laser World Champion Robert Scheidt BRA began the Championship witha premature start, but the revenge came immediately with a victory in race 2, bringing im on the 58th place for the moment. Chris Barnard USA is 33rd, Evert McLaughlin CAN 40th.

 Laser Standard - World Championship 2016 - Nuevo Vallarta MEX - first races today The World Championship 2016 of the Lasers Standard, the most competitive Olympic Class, begins today in Mexico. 114 participants from 44 nations are on the entry list. Among the favorites are the defending Champion Nick Thompson GBR, the World Ranking List leader Tom Burton AUS or Robert Scheidt BRA who is after his 11th Laser Worlds title. To be considered are also Matthew Wearn AUS and Philipp Buhl GER who delivered some good results in the past races.
