Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Final results, with good rankings of North Americans

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Final results, with good rankings of North Americans Good conditions prevailed yesterday on the last day of the Weymouth Olympic Classes Worldcup Regatta and the Medal Races were sailed in an up to 16 kn breeze. Changes happened on top of some classes.
Sime Fantela/Igor Marenic CRO were the profiteers of the duel between the jointly leading Patience/Grube GBR and Xammar/Herp ESP winning the Medal Race and moving up on top of the 470 men. The British ladies dominated the Medal Race of the 470 women and herewith also the overall rankings. Hannah Mills/Saskia Clarke GBR won ahead of Weguelin/McIntyre GBR tied with Seabright/Carpenter GBR. On 4th with the same number of points are the former leaders Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI.
In the 49ers, the winners were Logan Dunning/Jack Simpson NZL followed by Fletcher/Sign GBR and Pink/Bithell GBR. In spite of winning the Medal Race of the 49ersFX, Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL did not climb on top. One point behind Charlotte Dobson/Sophie Ainsworth GBR, they had to content themselves with rank 2. The winners of the Swedish duel for rank 3 were Gross/Jonsson SWE.
In the Finns, it was once more Giles Scott GBR taking Gold ahead of Jonathan Lobert FRA and Max Salminen SWE. Ben Saxton/Nicola Groves GBR finished first in the Nacra 17 in front of Paul Kohlhoff/Caroline Werner GER and Billy Besson/Marie Riou FRA.
Toni Wilhelm GER won the Medal Race and clearly remained on top of the RS:X men windsurfers. The 2nd place of Peina Chen CHN in the RS:X women windsurfers was good enough for a superior victory.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Final results, ranks 4 for Parkhill CAN and 9 for Bowskill CAN Inspite of a comfortable 13 points' lead before the Medal Race of the Lasers Radial, Marit Bouwmeester NED sailed her only direct opponent Mathilde de Kerangat FRA merciless down the fleet and with this fight, the French even dropped on rank 3 behind the winner of the Medal Race Lijia Xu CHN. Brenda Bowskill CAN finished 9th overall.
The ranks 1 and 2 in the Lasers Standard went to Nick Thompson GBR and his training's partner Elliot Hanson GBR. Tom Burton AUS, only 9th in the Medal Race, took Bronze. Lee Parkhill CAN lost the frist place in the Medal Race just before the finish line but nevertheless, the 2nd rank helped to climb on rank 4 overall.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Day , 1 USA and 7 CAN teams qualified for the Medal Races All classes sailed the planned program at the Weymouth Worldcup in a 6-10 kn wind yesterday.
The 470s competed three races per fleet. In the 470 men, Luke Patience/Chris Grube GBR defended their first place, but the best of the day, Jordi Xammar/Joan Herp ESP, joined them on top points-wise. Still candidates for the overall victory are Fantela/Marenic CRO on 3rd with a 6 points' backlog before today's Medal Race. In the 470 women, Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI reclaimed the first place at equal points with the English Olympia team Hannah Mills/Saskia Clarke GBR. On the 3rd place with an 8 points' deficit follow Seabright/Carpenter GBR.
Logan Dunning/Jack Simpson NZL have a solid 15 points' advantage in the 49ers before the Medal Race. Przybytek/Kolodzinski POL, Fletcher/Sign GBR and Pink/Bithell GBR will fight for Silver and Bronze. Fully open is the situation in the 49ersFX, where Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL have a 2 points' lead on Julia Gross/CeciliaJonsson SWE.
Giles Scott GBR moved on top of the Finns one point ahead of Ben Cornish GBR. 4, respectively 5 points behind, Max Salminen SWE and Jonathan Lobert FRA will fight for the Medals as well. Ben Saxton/Nicola Groves GBR added three bullets on their results' sheet as overall leaders in the Nacra 17, 6 points ahead of Paul Kohlhoff/Carolina Werner GER on rank 2, and 13 points ahead of Bissarro/Sicouri ITA on rank 3.
In the RS:X men, Toni Wilhelm GER defended his first place ahead of Chunzhuang Liu CHN nd Aichen Wang CHN. 10 points is the lead of Peina Chen CHN in the RS:X women on Isobel Hamilton GBR.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Day 4, both CAN Lasers in the Medal Race Exceptional light winds prevailed also on the fourth day of the Weymouth Worldcup, but nevertheless, both Laser fleets completed three races each.
Nick Thompson GBR has taken the lead in the Lasers Standard one point ahead of Tom Burton AUS, an exciting situation for today's Medal Race. Elliot Hanson GBR follows with a 7 points' backlog on rank 3. Lee Parkhill CAN is 6th, Chris Barnard USA 32nd.
In the Lasers Radial, the positions seem clear as Marit Bouwmeester NED has now a 13 points' advantage on Mathilde de Kerangeat FRA, winner of two races yesterday. On rank 3 follows Emma Plaeschart BEL, 4 points in front of Lijia Xu CHN. Brenda Bowskill CAN is 9th.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Day 3, Parkhill CAN 8th Light winds prevailed also on the third day of the Weymouth Olympic Worldcup Regatta, and a reduced program only was sailed.
The 470 men completed only one race with Luke Patience/Chris Grube GBR as winners, taking the overall lead ahead of Fantela/Marenic CRO and Fock/Dackhammer SWE. Winners of the day in the 470 women were Carrie Smith/Jaime Ryan AUS, moving up on rank 4. Sophie Weguelin/Eilin McIntyre GBR are now the sole leaders one point ahead of Hanna Mills7Saskia Clarke GBR, and another point on Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler now on 3rd.
Two races were sailed by the 49ers with Dylan Fletcher/Alan Sign GBR on the ranks 1 and 2, taking the overall lead. Przybytek/Kolodsinski POL are 2nd, Dunning/Simpson NZL 3rd. No races for the 49ersFX, where Ericson/Klinga SWE are leading after the opening day.
In the Finns, the sole leader is Ben Cornish GBR ahead of Giles Scott GBR and Max Salminen SWE. The Nacra 17 sailed two races, and Paul Kohlhoff/Carolina Werner GER replaced Luke Ramsey/Nicola Gierke CAN on top.
With two bullets, Toni Wilhelm GER took the lead in the RS:X men windsurfers, while Peina Chen CHN continued with her flawless series in the RS:X women windsurfers with two race wins. Isobel Hamilton GBR follows on rank 2.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Day 3, Parkhill CAN 8th The very light winds on the third day of the Weymouth Worldcup reduced the program of the Lasers to one heat per class.
In the Lasers Standard, the winner of the day was Stefano Peschiera PER moving up on rank 6 overall. Finishing 2nd, Tom Burton AUS advanced on top of the rankings ahead of Jesper Stalheim SWE and Nick Thompson GBR. Lee Parkhill CAN is 8th, Chris Barnard USA 31st.
The WS Youth World Champion Maria Erdin HUN won the only race of the Lasers Radial progressing on rank 3 overall. Marit Bouwmeester NED is the new leader 7 points ahead of Lijia Xu CHN on the 2nd place. Brenda Bowskill CAN is 21st.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Day 2, Ramsay/Gierke CAN interim's leaders Nacra-17 Lack of wind reduced the program on the opening day to only one race of the RS:X windsurfers, and yesterday a thick fog disturbed racing at the Weymouth Worldcup event. Finally in the afternoon, the fleets went off in a 10-15 kn wind. A full Canadian Team and USA individuals are participating in this last Worldcup event before the Rio Olympics.
In the 470 men, three races were completed and with the discard already activated, the top boats are closely together. Sofian Bouvet/Jérémy Mion FRA are first with a one points lead on Schmid/Reichstädter AUT and 2 on Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS. In the 470 women, three teams share the lead: Linda Fahrni/Maja Siegenthaler SUI are on top with the ranks 3/1 ahead of Mills/ Clark GBR (1/3) and Weguelin/Ainsworth GBR (2/2).
In the 49ers, Logan Dunnin/Jack Simpson NZL booked four top-ten finishes and lead one point ahead of Botin/Lopez ESP. Lise Ericsson/Hanna Klinga SWE, winners of the Hyères Worldcup in April, took the lead in the 49ersFX one point ahead of Gross/Jonsson SWE. Dobson/Ainsworth GBR follow as 3rd.
The favorite Giles Scott GBR has taken the first position in the small Finn fleet right from the beginning, however shared with Ben Cornish GBR. Fabien Pic FRA follows on rank 3. In the Nacra 17, Luke Ramsey/Nikola Gierke CAN are on top 4 points ahead of Besson/Riou FRA and another 2 points of Kohlhoff/Werner GER.
The light to moderate wind so far was welcomed by the Chinese windsurfers. In the RS:X men, Chunzhuang Liu CHN and Aichen Wang CHN are on the ranks 2 and 3 behind the leader Toni Wilhelm GER, and in the RS:X women, Peina Chen CHN won all 3 races of the day.

 Laser - Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Day 2, Parkhill CAN 8th After the cancellation of racing on the opening day due to lack of wind, the breeze was there - 10 to 15 kn - and three heats were completed.
Tom Burton AUS has clearly taken the lead in the Lasers Standard ahead of Elliott Hanson GBR and Jesper Stalheim SWE tied on the ranks 2 and 3. Lee Parkhill CAN is 8th, Chris Barnard USA 32nd. With 37 participants, the fleet is rather small, as many Olympians are not present.
In the Radials, Lijia Xu CHN is on top on the Olympic waters of Weymouth, the venue of her Olympic Gold 4 years ago. On rank 2 is, as at the Games, Marit Bouwmeester NED on 2nd, and Emma Plaeschart BEL is 3rd. Brenda Bowskill CAN is 19th.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Day 1 Only very light winds showed up on the first day of the last 2016 Worldcup event before the Rio Games on the Olympic waters of Weymouth GBR. Only the RS:X windsurfers were on the water sailing one race late in the afternoon. Aichen Wang CHN was the winner ahead of Toni Wilhelm GER and Liu Chunzhuang CHN. Most top cracks are not competing in Weymouth, and only 16 participants from 8 nations are on the entry list.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Weymouth GBR - Start today The last Worldcup event before the Olympic Games begins today on the Olympic waters 2012. With the selections for Rio concluded by all nations, the fleets in Weymouth are rather small, but most favorites benefit from this opportunity for final comparisons with their opponents. The most prominent team missed are the 49er dominators Peter Burling/Blair Tuke NZL. The entry lists.
