Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Final results - Gold for Germany and Italy, Bruce Jordan USA drops on rank 4

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Final results - Gold for Germany and Italy, Bruce Jordan USA drops on rank 4 The Optimist European Championship 2016 was concluded yesterday with two races per fleet.
Gaia Bergonzini ITA climbed on rank 1 of the Girls' Goldfleet on the last day, as Melina Pappa GRE had two medium races only and descended on rank 3. Girl of the day was Antonia Schultheis MLT, winning both heats and grasping the Silver Medal.
A leader change occurred also in the Boys' Goldfleet. Winning the last race, Mewes Wieduwild GER grasped the title on the last moment. As his sister in the Girls, Richard Schultheis MLT was the best of the day and won Silver. Bronze went to Paolo Peracca ITA, who lost the title with two medium ranks in the last heats. Bad day also for Bruce Jordan USA who lost Bronze with the ranks 11 and 29 yesterday and finished on rank 4.

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Day 5, Bruce Jordan USA 3rd Challenging conditions prevailed during the first Final Series races with a fresh 20-24 kn breeze and big up to 3 meter waves.
New on top of the Goldfleet Boys is now Paolo Peracca ITA. Mewes Wieduwild GER follows 4 points behind on rank 2. Already 14 points back and new on rank 3 is Bruce Jordan USA.
The Girls sailed two races per fleet. Milena Pappa GRE defended her lead in the Goldfleet 4 points ahead of Gaia Bergonzini ITA on rank 2.

Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Day 3, Jordan Bruce USA 5th, Madeline A. Hawkins USA 15th

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Day 3, Jordan Bruce USA 5th, Madeline A. Hawkins USA 15th The Qualification Series at the Optimist Europeans in Southern Italy ended yesterday with one Girls' and two Boys' fleet races sailed in a fresh breeze. From now on, the competition will continue in Gold-, Silver- and Bronzefleets.
The new leader in the Girls is Melina Pappa GRE ahead of Gaia Bergonzini ITA 2nd and Gaia Falco ITA and Alice Moss SWE on the 3rd place at equal points. Madeline Ann Hawkins USA is on rank 15.
Richard Schultheis MLT as reclaimed the first position in the Boys with a race win. The day's best (1/3) was Mewes Wleduwild GER who advanced on rank 2. Odysseos Spanakis GRE and Paolo Peracca ITA follow at equal points on rank 3. Jordan Bruce USA is 5th only 2 points behind the podium.

Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Day 1

 Optimist - European Championship 2016 - Crotone ITA - Day 1 The Optimist European Championship began yesterday in Southern Italy with summery temperatures and a fresh seabreeze. Three races were sailed in both gender fleets.
Alice Moss SWE has taken the interim's lead in the Girls 2 points ahead of Gaia Bergonzini ITA. Gaia Falco ITA is on the 3rd place. The best 53 in the 105 participants' fleet will qualify for the Goldfleet.
Richard Schultheis MLT leads in the Boys' fleet one point ahead of Vasileios Livas GRE. Mic Mohr GER folgt auf Rang 3. The 181 participants sail in three fleets with the best 61 qualifying for the Goldfleet.
