Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Final results

A fresh 20 kn breeze prevailed in Kiel GER yesterday during the final races of the Laser 4.7 World Championship.
Racing was very close in the Boys. The leader Emilio Gallinaro ITA won the first race of the day and was close to the champion's title. But Dimitrios Papadimitriou GRE did not give in and won the second race, while Gallinaro ITA sailed his discard result. The Greek herewith moved on top of the rankings and grasped the title with a one point advantage. Bronze went to Pere Ponseti ESP.
Emma Savelon NED is the new World Champion in the 4.7 Girls. Finishing twice as 7th was good enough to remain on top. Mariia Kislukhina RUS won both races and replaced the tied Elisa Navoni ITA on rank 2. First in the U16-rankings of the Girls is Wiktoria Lehmann POL ahead of Ana Moncada ESP and Matilda Nicholls GBR.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Day 4 A fresh breeze around 18 kn provoked major changes in the rankings after the first Final Series races of the Laser 4.7 Worlds.
In the 4.7 Girls, the superior leader Federica Cattarozzi ITA dived on rank 6 with the day ranks 31 and 36. Emma Savelon NED is the new leader and the day's best (ranks 2/2) Juli Baruch ISR advanced on rank 2. New on the 3rd place is Mariia Kislukhina RUS.
A leader change occurred also in the 4.7 Boys where Emilio Gallinaro ITA replaced Dimitrios Papadimitriou GRE on top. Separated by 6 points, this duo will fight for the title today, as the 3rd-ranked Pere Ponseti ESP is already 40 points back.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Day 3 The Qualification Series were concluded yesterday in moderate winds without any changes on top of the rankings, but the leading groups are now closer together.
Federica Cattarozzi ITA defended her first place in the 4.7 Girls ahead of Emma Savalon NED who is now only one point behind the Italian finishing twice on 2nd yesterday. Elisa Navoni ITA moved up on rank 3 with two race wins.
Separted by one point only is the leading duo in the 4.7 Boys. Dimitris Papadimitriou GRE and Guido Gallinaro ITA have distanced the chasers, lead by Pere Ponseti ESP on the 3rd position.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Day 3 Fresh winds exceeding 20 kn prevailed yesterday at the Laser 4.7 Worlds causing a number of changes on the ranking lists.
Federica Cattarozzi ITA, used to strong winds on her home waters Lake Garda, had her day taking the overall lead 4 points ahead of Emma Savelon NED. Leila van der Meer NED follows on rank 3. The Girls' rankings.
Dimitrios Papadimitriou GRE dominated the Boys with two race wins taking the overall lead ahead of Guido Gallinaro ITA and Pere Ponseti ESP.

 Laser 4.7 - Youth World Championship 2016 - Kiel GER - Day 2 After a windless day, the Laser 4.7 World Championship began yesterday with the first races sailed in wind and rain. Girls and Boys completed 3 races each.
Annabelle Westerhof NED and Frederica Cattarozzi ITA share the lead in the Girls.
In the Boys, Peire Ponseti ESP is clearly on top with three bullets in his group. Guido Gallinaro ITA and Dimitrios Papadimitriou GRE follow at equal points on rank 2.
