Yesterday, the last Round of the Melges24 European Sailing Series 2016 on Lago Maggiore was concluded with two races. The clearly leading Carlo Fracassoli ITA easily defended his first place and finished with a 12 points' lead on Andrea Pozzi ITA, who moved up on 2nd thanks to a race win, replacing Robert Bakoczy HUN now 3rd.

Three good races could be sailed on the Lago Maggiore in a well-established thermal breeze. With another race win, Carlo Fracassoli ITA (on the Swiss Chris Rast's Worldchampion boat) extended his lead on 8 points. As best of the day with the ranks 3/2/1, Robert Bakoczy HUN and his team advanced on the 2nd place ahead of Andrea Pozzi ITA on 3rd. 22 teams.

The 6th and last round of the Melges-24 European Sailing Series begins today on the Lago Maggiore SUI, at the same time the Melges-24 Swiss Class Championship. 23 teams from 7 nations participate. Not competing is the World- and European Champion Chris Rast SUI and his team, but for the first time, the 470 youth sailor Kilian Wagen CNP will be steering a Melges-24.
