GC32-Catamaran - Extreme Sailing Series - Act 7 - Lisbon POR - Final results

 GC32-Catamaran - Extreme Sailing Series - Act 7 - Lisbon POR - Final results 'Alinghi' with Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI won yesterday the third Extreme Sailing Series Act in a row. Their lead before the final double-points' race was such (20 pts), that they concentrated to cover the Series leader 'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA and finishing 7th and 8th, the Omanis lost their place on the podium. Winning the race, 'Red Bull Sailing Team' moved up on rank 3. 'Norauto'-Team FRA with Adam Minoprio NZL steering as substitute for Franck Cammas FRA, newcomer with a wild card, clearly earned the 2nd place. In the overall Series rankings, the backlog of 'Alinghi' on 'Oman Air' is now down to 3 points, and the last Act of the Extreme Sailing Series in Sydney in early December will be the show down for the 2016 Championship. Sharon Ferris NZL and her all-female 'Thalassa Magenta Sailing Team' remained on rank 9.

 GC32-Catamaran - Extreme Sailing Series - Act 7 - Lisbon POR - Day 3 The breeze exceeded 20 kn on the third day of the Extreme Sailing Series in Lisbon POR, the windiest day in the 2016 season, and the foiling catamarans reached top speeds around 35 kn. 'Alinghi' with Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI were again the team of the day, winning two of the 6 races sailed. The advantage on the second 'Norauto' with Adam Minoprio NZL has increased on 21 points. 'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA follows another 9 points behind. The all-female team with Sharon Ferris NZL dropped on rank 9.

 GC32-Catamaran - Extreme Sailing Series - Act 7 - Lisabon POR - Day 2 After the light-wind opening day, the breeze freshened on 15 kn during yesterday, enough to keep the GC32 foiling catamarans flying. 'Alinghi' with Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI mastered the conditions best finishing 1/1/2/2/2 and extended the overall lead on 14 points. Second remains 'Norauto' team with Adam Minoprio NZL steering in place of Franck Cammas FRA in her first (wild-card) appearance in the Extreme Sailing Series. The Tour leader 'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA on rank 3 is already 22 points behind at equal points with 'Red Bull Sailing Team' of Roman Hagara AUT. Sharon Ferris NZL and her all-female team (with Sally Barkow USA) moved up one position on rank 7.

 GC32-Catamaran - Extreme Sailing Series - Act 7 - Lisabon POR - Day 1 Light winds prevailed yesterday in Lisbon during the first 5 races of the 7th Act of the Extreme Sailing Series. 'Alinghi' with Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI played on her light-wind qualities winning two heats and taking the overall lead closely followed by the French 'Norauto'-Team with Adam Minoprio NZL steering, leader in the GC32 Racing Tour, who joined Extreme Sailing for the first time. The annual Series leader 'Oman Air' with Morgan Larson USA is on 3rd. Another newcomer to the Series is the all-female 'Thalassa Magenta Racing' team with Sharon Ferris NZL as skipper. They are on the 8th place of the 9 teams participating.
