Grand Surprise - Student Yachting World Cup 2016 - La Rochelle FRA - Final results
The Student World Cup 2016 in La Rochelle FRA was concluded yesterday with the Canadian Queen's University as winners (see text in the right border column of the offiicial page). No other information is available. It seems, that the organisers (from universities creating the digital future of society ??) barely have the knowhow to produce clean Internet websites. The event website with the ranking list after day 3, and the the video of the day before yesterday.
Three races were sailed yesterday at the Student World Cup in La Rochelle, and after 7 races in total, the worst result is discarded. The University Southampton team with Calum Healy GBR, best of the day two days ago with three race wins, was again the most successfull yesterday with the ranks 3/1/4, taking the overall lead 6 points ahead of the Cork Institute of Technolgy with Ricky Harrington IRL. Queens University with William Jones CAN is now on the 3rd place. The day one leader EPF Lausanne with Irineu Pla SUI had a rather mediocre day with the ranks 6/4/6 and is down on the 4th position with a 10 points' backlog on the first.
The Student World Cup 2016 began yesterday in La Rochelle FRA with three short races and a coastal race. Only 8 teams from 8 nations participate, and the first leader is the Swiss representative EPF Lausanne (Lucvoile) with Ireneu Pla SUI with the day ranks 1/3/4 and a 3rd place in the long-distance race. Team Wessex of the Southampton University GBR, disqualified in race 1, but winner of the three other races.
