Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Melbourne AUS - Final results, Buckingham USA 7th, Davis CAN 13th

The 2016 Olympic Classes Worldcup Final was concluded today with the Laser, 470 and Finn Medal Races.
Pavlos Kontides CYP winner of the last race in the Lasers Standard is first with a 4 points' advantage on Matthew Wearn AUS. Tonci Stipanovic CRO earned the Bronze-Medal. Charlie Buckingham USA is 7th, Robert Davis CAN 13th. No surprise in the Lasers Radial where Marit Bouwmeester NED controlled the situation clearly winning ahead of Anne-Marie Rindom DEN and Emma Plasschaert BEL. Jake Lilley AUS finished first in the Finns ahead of Ed Wright GBR and Caleb Paine USA. Carlo Lazzari SUI remained on rank 16. With 6 bullets in 8 races including the Medal Race, the clear favorites Matthew Belcher/Will Rean AUS are the winners in the 470 men. The runners-up Takayama/Immamura JPN on rank 2 are 26 points behind. Conway/Conway AUS follow on rank 3. Domination by Lara Vadlau/Yolanta Ogar AUT in the 470 women as well with 8 race wins in 10 heats. Smith/Ryan AUS and Zhang/Liu CHN complete the podium.

Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Melbourne AUS - Final results

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Melbourne AUS - Final results The first Medal Races of the Olympic Classes Worldcup 2016 have been completed this morning already. Replays are available in our livestream window on top of the page.
Kiran Badloe NED was the clear winner in the RS:X men windsurfers. In the RS:X women, Zofia Noceti-Klepacka POL crowned her impressive performance with a first place in the final race. A convincing finish and a 2nd rank in the Medal Race lifted Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT on top of the 49ers, their first Worldcup victory. In the 49ersFX, Tess Lloyd/Eliza Solly AUS won the Medal Race and the overall rankings. A class of theirown were Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS in the Nacra 17.
All other classes will sail their Medal Races tomorrow. For the moment, Charlie Buckingham USA is 8th with good chances to qualify for the Medal Race, Robert Davis CAN is 13th.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Melbourne AUS - Day 3 After the stormy wind yesterday keeping the fleets ashore, a moderate breeze is prevailing in Meldbourne today and racing is underway according to program. First results have already been posted.
In the Lasers Standard, Matthew Wearn AUS winning a race is now the sole leader. Pavlos Kontides CYP and Tonci Stipanovic CRO remain the first persuers. Marit Bouwmeester NED extended her lead in the Lasers Radial with another race win. Anne-Marie Rindom DEN and Silvia Zennaro ITA follow on the ranks 2 and 3.
All other ranking lists will be posted during the morning UTC.

 Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Melbourne AUS - Day 2 Day 2 of the Olympic Classes Worldcup Final in Melbourne is underway and the results of the windsurfers, skiffs and Finns have already been posted. By noon, all results of the day will be available.
In a fresher breeze as on the opening day, Kiran Badloe NED has taken the lead in the RS:X male windsurfers with two bullets. In the female windsurfers, Zofia Noceti-Klepacka POL won also both races today taking the overall lead one point ahead of Manija Zheng CHN. In the Finns, the Olympians Jack Lilley AUS, Ed Wright GBR and Caleb Paine USA are on the first ranks. Three teams are on top of the 49ers at equal points after 5 races: McHardie/McKenzie NZL, Botin/Lopez ESP and Porebski/Rippey AUS. In the 49ersFX, the advantage of Tess Lloyd/Eliza Solly AUS on Haylee Outteridge/Nina Curtis AUS melted to one point only. In the 470 men, the big favorites Belcher/Ryan AUS are in the lead after 4 heats as expected. Conway/Conway AUS follow 6 points behind on rank 2. With 3 race wins in 4 races lead Lara Vadlau/Yolanta Ogar AUT in the 470 women. Dominance also by the Olympians Jason Waterhouse/Lisa Darmanin AUS in the Nacra 17 with 5 wins in 6 races.

Olympic Worldcup 2016 - Sail Melbourne - Melbourne AUS - Day 2, ranks 7 and 12 for USA and CAN Lasers

In a stronger breeze than on the opening day the two Laser Classes just started their day with a first race this morning. Adding another race win Pavlos Kontides CYP took over the lead, just one point ahead of Matthew Wearn. Olympic goldmedallist Tom Burton AUS moved up to 3rd. Charlie Buckingham USA is 7th, Rob Davis CAN 12th. In the Radials Marit Bouwmeester NED won the first race of the day and took over the lead. Anne-Marie Rindom DEN and Silvia Zennaro ITA follow on 2nd resp. 3rd. By noon GMT the complete results of the day should be available. The Event-Website.
