IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2016 - Sydney AUS - Day 3 - new record for 'Perpetual Loyal'

 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2016 - Sydney AUS - Day 3 - new record for 'Perpetual Loyal' The line honours of this year's Sydney-Hobart Race went after one day, 13 hrs and 31 min to the 100-foot-Super-Maxi 'Perpetual Loyal' of Anthony Bell AUS (with the Laser Olympic Champion Tom Slingsby AUS). The ideal conditions with mostly moderate rear winds made the race fast allowing to finish in a new record time. The 2nd-ranked VOR70 'Giacomo' of John Delegat NZL and the 100-foot 'Scallywag' of Seng Huang Lee SIN on 3rd remained also below the old record. Until press deadline this morning, 7 yachts terminated the race.

 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2016 - Sydney AUS - Day 2 The leading boats of the Sydney-Hobart Race 2016 are approaching the finish this morning UTC, not only 100-foot-Super-Maxis but also Volvo70s ! 'Perpetual Loyal' of Anthony Bell AUS is leading 17 nm ahead of the VOR70 'Giacomo' (the former 'Groupama') with Jim Cooney AUS well positioned to win the Race in calculated time. 5 nm back follows 'Maserati', another VOR70. 'Scallywag' of Seng Huang Lee SIN on rank 4 is the 2nd Super-Maxi. The favorite 'Wild Oats XI' was forced to abandon the race with a damaged keel. This afternoon UTC, the first yachts will arrive in Hobart on Tasmania.

IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2016 - Sydney AUS - Day 1

This morning at 2 hrs UTC, the start to the 72nd Sydney Hobart Race was given on Sydney Harbour. 88 teams participate, and the weather forecast promises a fast, perhaps even record race. One day 18 hours would be the time to beat. A 10 kn north-easterly breeze should allow a fast downwind race directly to Hobart. A video replay of the start has already been posted. The fleet is now sailing down South along the Australian coast with the favorite Super-Maxis in the lead. 'Perpetual Loyal' and 'Wild Oats XI' are sailing closely together at speeds around 25 kn.

 IRC - Sydney-Hobart Race 2016 - Sydney AUS Tomorrow, the start to the 72nd Sydney-Hobart Race will be given on Sydney Harbour with 89 teams on the starting line. The line honours will as usual go to a big Super-Maxi with the multiple winner 'Wild Oats XI' - abandoning last year with equipment failure -, the 100-foot 'Scallywag ' (ex 'Raggamuffin') from Hongkong and 'Perpetual Loyal' (100 foot´) [with the 2012 Laser Olympic Champion Tom Slingsby AUS steering.
ssssssAfter a fast start in a north-westerly breeze, the wind will shift to South in the crossing of the Bass Strait between Australia und Tasmania.
