470 - European Championship 2017 - Monaco MON - Final results

 470 - European Championship 2017 - Monaco MON - Final results No wind, no Medal Races yesterday in Monaco and the rankings of Friday become final. Carl-Frederik Fock/Marcus Dackhammar SWE are the new European Champions in the 470 men and Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED take Gold in the 470 women.
The newly composed team Guillaume Pirouelle/Jérémy Mion FRA finished on the 2nd place ahead of the Olympic Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS on 3rd in the Open rankings. As 3rd European team, Jordi Xammar/Nicolas Rodriguez ESP grasped the European's Bronze Medal.
Behind the new 470 women Champions Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED, favorites in Monaco after their Worldcup victoriy in Hyères end of April, follows the surprise team Elena Berta/Sveva Carraro ITA. Anna Skrzypulec/Jolanta Ogar POL take Bronze.

 470 - European Championship 2017 - Monaco MON - Day 5 Yesterday, the 470 Europeans Qualification Series for today's Medal Races were concluded.
Three team still have a chance for the title in the 470 women: Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED are clearly on pole with a 7 points' lead over Elena Berta/Sveva Carraro ITA. Agnieszka Skrzypulec/Jolanta Ogar POL are another 6 points back. Not far behind are 4 teams with an option for Bronze, and today's final race will be exciting.
Carl-Frederik Fock/Marcus Dackhammar SWE start to the Medal Race with a solid 9 points' lead on Guillaume Pirouelle/Jérémy Mion FRA. Only 1 point more have Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS and a theoretical chance for the title remains in the double-points-no-discard final race.

 470 - European Championship 2017 - Monaco MON - Day 4 After three light-wind days, a fresh Eastwind around 25 kn and 4 meter waves completely changed the stage at the 470 Europeans and the big-breeze specialists could improve their overall rankings.
Afrodite Zegers/Anneloes Van Veen NED finished 1 and 2 yesterday and advanced from rank 16 to rank 1. At equal points on the 2nd place follow Agnieszka Skrczypulek/Jolanta Ogar POL, and 2 points behind on the 3rd position are now Amy Seabright/Anna Carpenter GBR.
Carl-Fredrik Fock/Niklas Dackhammar SWE remained on top of the 470 men, while Pirouelle/Mion FRA finishing 2 and 3 yesterday moved up on rank 2. Denis Cinar/Ates Cinar TUR follow on the 3rd place. The key favorites Belcher/Ryan AUS abandoned the 2nd race and follow on rank 4 with a 12 points' backlog.

 470 - European Championship 2017 - Monaco MON - Day 3 Light winds prevailed again on the third day of the 470 Europeans off Monaco and just one race could be completed. The 470 men's Silverfleet did not race at all.
New on top of the women overall are Noya Aram/Nina Amir ISR winning the race of the day. Elena Berta/Sveva Carraro ITA advanced on rank 2. The former leaders Mafalda Pires/Mariana Lobato POR are now on 3rd with a 6 points' backlog.
Leader change in the men's, sailing their first Goldfleet race. Carl-Frederik Fock/Niklas Dackhammar SWE are now first ahead of the day's race winners Deniz Cinar/Ates Cinar TUR and Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS down on the 3rd position.

 470 - European Championship 2017 - Monaco MON - Day 2 The 470 Europeans in Monaco continued yesterday with two races per fleet, sailed in very light winds of 5 to 8 kn.
Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS lost rank 1 in the 470 men, as after a race win, they flopped a heat and Carl-Frederik Fock/Marcus Dackhammar SWE moved up on top. Guillaume Pirouelle/Jérémy Mion FRA climbed on rank 3.
The leaders in the 470 women, Mafalda Pires/Mariana Lobato POR, had a bad race too, but with a 3rd race rank and the discard, they remained on top of the rankings. Noya Bar-Am/Nina Amir ISR and Gil Cohen/Stay Brokman ISR advanced on the ranks 2 and 3.

 470 - European Championship 2017 - Monaco MON - Day 1 The first races at the 470 Europeans could be started late in the afternoon only when a sufficient Westwind filled in. The woman's fleet completed two, the men's fleet, split in two groups, three races each.
Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS - who else - won two heats of their group and have the overall lead ahead of Fock/Dackhammar SWE and Ferrari/Calabro ITA.
Surprise in the 470 women where Mafalda Pires de Lima/Mariana Lobato POR, new in the 470 for two months (!), are on top with the day ranks 4 and 6. Amy Seabright/Anna Carpenter GBR and Jennifer Poret/Camille Hautefaye FRA follow closely behind.

 470 - European Championship 2017 - Monaco MON - Start today, without North Americans The 470 European Championship begins today in Monaco probably in a moderate East wind that should persist during the whole week as the forecast announces.
40 women's teams from 19 nations are on the entry list, the most competitive fleet together in this post-olympic year.
In the men's category, 49 teams from 23 nations will participate with the Olympic Champions Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS as big favorites for the overall win.
