GC32-Catamaran, Flying Phantom - Extreme Sailing Series, Act 3 - Madeira POR - Final results, SAP first ahead of Alinghi

GC32-Catamaran, Flying Phantom - Extreme Sailing Series, Act 3 - Madeira POR - Final results, SAP first ahead of Alinghi The last and double-points race of Act 3 of the Extreme Sailing Series did not hamper the leading position of the Danish 'SAP Extreme Sailing Team' with Adam Minoprio NZL steering. 'Alinghi' as 3rd in the final race could not completely compensate the points lost with the DNF in the 3rd heat. Finishing 4th in the last race, SAP secured her overall win. 'Alinghi' had a good day with two bullets and missed the victory by 3 points only. 'Oman Air' with Phil Robertson NZL followed as 3rd. In the overall Series' rankings after 3 Acts leads 'Alinghi' one point ahead of 'SAP Extreme Sailing Team'.
The results, the final report and the 3-hours' video replay of the last day.
In the Flying Phantoms participating for the first time, the two Nacra-17-Olympians Jason Waterhouse AUS/Thomas Zajac AUT finished first on 'Red Bull Sailing' AUT. On the ranks 2 and 3 followed the two French teams 'Culture Foil' und 'Zephyr'. Unfortunately no names were indicated on the event website. The ranking list has been posted at the end of the daily news.

GC32-Catamaran, Flying Phantom - Extreme Sailing Series, Act 3 - Madeira POR - Day 3

GC32-Catamaran, Flying Phantom - Extreme Sailing Series, Act 3 - Madeira POR - Day 3 Two different wind systems over the Madeira Islands caused several start postponements, and finally only one race could be completed with 'Alinghi' of Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI as winner. The Swiss remained on the 3rd place overall, reducing the gap to the leader 'SAP Racing' with Adam Minoprio NZL on 9 points. 'Oman Air' with Phil Robertson NZL kept rank 2 with a 7 points' backlog on the first. Everything is open for the top ranks today, with a final race awarding double points.
