 Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Final results, Melleby NOR/Revkin USA World Champions The final upwind of the last race made the difference at the Star Worlds in Denmark ! Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA were on rank 5 at the last leeward mark and herewith on the Worlds' Champions course. But Eivind Melleby NOR/Joshua Revkin USA strongly came from behind on the last leg and advancing on the 8th place, they saved 2 points from their advantage in the overall rankings winning Gold. 3rd behind the 2nd ranked Brazilians are Reinhardt Schmidt/Paul Sradnick GER, earning Bronze.

Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Day 6, five teams race for the title in the last race with Mellaby/Revkin NOR/USA on pole

Yesterday was lay day at the 2017 Star World Championship in Denmanrk, and in today's crucial final race, the podium ranks will be decided.
Eivind Melleby NOR/Joshua Revkin USA go to the start with a 5 points' lead on Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA. Reinhard Schmidt/Paul Sradnick GER (backlog 7 points), Facundo Oleazza/Juan-Pablo Engelhardt ARG (at 8 points) and Diego Negri/Sergio Lambertenghi ITA (at 9 points) remain contenders for one of the Medals, even Gold.

 Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Day 5, five teams fight for the title today, Melleby/Revkin NOR/USA favorites Light winds prevailed for the first time during the fifth race of the 2017 Worlds in Denmark after three big-breeze days. Diego Negri/Sergio Lamberthengi ITA were the winners ahead of George Szabo USA/Patrick Ducommun SUI. The situation is fully open re the title before the last race today, as five teams still have an option on Gold. Eivind Melleby NOR/Joshua Revkin USA and Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA on 2nd separated by 5 points are still on top of the rankings, but both sailed their discard result yesterday and need a good result in front of their chasers today to remain ahead. Reinhardt Schmidt/Pauls Sradnick GER follows by a small margin only and also Facundo Oleazza/Juan-Pablo Engelhart ARG and Diego Negri/Sergio Lamberthengi ITA are not yet out in the fight for the title.

Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Day 4, new leader, Diaz/Prada 4th

 Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Day 4, new leader, Diaz/Prada 4th Yesterday was a beautiful ay at the Star Worlds in Troense DEN with a wind of 12-14 during the two races held. The courses are 10.4 miles long by the class rules so 2 of those plus a 4 mile sail out and 4 miles sail back, made for a long day. Race no. 3 was launched after a restart with “Black flag”, while race no. 4 was perfect with all the boats lined up correctly.
Eivind Melleby/ Joshua Revkin NOR/USA were the best of the day (ranks 2 and 1) and are the clear overall leaders with all results in the first 4 after four races. Lars Grael/Samuel Goncalves BRA on rank 2 are 5 points back, Reinhard Schmidt/Paul Sradnick GER on 3rd are 11 points behind the leaders. The defending champion Augie Diaz/Bruno Prada USA/BRA are 4th with a 14 points' backlog.
Six races are planned for July 2 through July 8 with July 9 as a reserve day. With the light air forecast, more variation in results may be expected, but Melleby NOR seems to be on a solid way to the title.

Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Day 3, another big breeze day

The fresh wind stayed over the Southern coast of Denmark and only in the afternoon, the westerly breeze was down on about 18 kn prompting the Race Officer to start one race, however again with gusts in the mid-20s.
The young Facundo Oleazza Bazan ARG - a Finn sailor who discovered the Star thanks to the invitiation of the Star Sailors' League to the Bahamas last December - won together with Juan-Pablo Engelhardt ARG and moved up on rank 2 overall. Reinhardt Schmidt/Paul Sradnick GER finishing 2nd are new on top of the rankings ahead of Melleby NOR/Revkin USA and Grael/Gonsalves BRA on the ranks 3 and 4.

 Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Day 2, racing cancelled for the day Day two lived up to the predicted strong winds in the mid 20’s and plenty of thunder and lightning. The Race Committee of the 2017 Star World Championship in Troense DEN did not hesitate to cancel racing for the day.
After the opening race of Sunday, Lars Greal/Samuel Goncalves BRA are on first ahead of Hubert Merkelbch/Brian Fatih GER/USA and Reinhard Schmidt/Paul Sradnick of GER. Two races are scheduled for tomorrow with the first warning signal at 10:30.

Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Day 1, Lars Greal/Sam Goncalves BRA 1st leaders

 Star - World Championship - Troense DEN - Day 1, Lars Greal/Sam Goncalves BRA 1st leaders The 2017 Star World Championship in Troense in the South of Denmark began yesterday under cloudy skies with the first of 6 races (one discard) in an initial 15-18 kn wind, freshening to up to 25 kn during the 10 nm long race. The conditions got a gustier as the race progressed and 7 boats lost their masts, among them Daniel and Paul Cayard USA.
Lars Greal/Samuel Goncalves BRA, 2015 World Champions, led wire to wire, but had to defend this lead fiercely against Hubert Merkelbch/Brian Fatih GER/USA right at the finish. 3rd place went to Reinhard Schmidt/Paul Sradnick of GER. Elvind Melleby and Josh Revkin finished 4th. The defending Champions Augie Diaz/Bruno Prada USA/BRA are 10th among the 76 boats entered.
