49er, 49erFX - European Championship 2017 - Kiel GER - Day 5 with USA and CAN teams

 49er, 49erFX - European Championship 2017 - Kiel GER - Day 5 with USA and CAN  teams Both Classes completed three race each to conclude the qualifications for the Medal Races despite of the early return ashore due to an upcoming thunderstorm.
In the 49ers, David Gilmour/Joel Turner AUS have a 7 points' lead on James Peters/Fynn Sterritt GBR. Judge Ryan/Hans Henken USA are 29th, Alexander Heinzelmann/Justin Barnes CAN 59th.
In the 49ersFX, the new leaders are Viktoria Jurczok/Anika Lorenz GER closely followed by Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey GBR and Tina Lutz/Susann Beuke GER. Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea US are 23rd.

 49er, 49erFX - European Championship 2017 - Kiel GER - Day 4 Light winds from the shore prevailed again yesterday at the Skiff European Championship in Kiel GER and in the 49ers and 49ersFX, local teams handled the difficult conditions the best.
In the 49ers, Meggendorfer/Spranger GER were the best of the day and advanced on rank 5 overall. New leaders are Gilmour/Turner AUS with three top-6 ranks yesterday. Plazzi/Tesei ITA and Peters Sterritt GBR follow on the ranks 2 and 3.
In the 49erFX, Tina Lutz/Susann Beucke GER moved up on rank 2 only one point behind the leaders Jena-Mai Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN. As best of the day, Victoria Jurczok/Anika Lorenz GER are now 3rd.

 49er, 49erFX - European Championship 2017 - Kiel GER - Day 3, no NorAm teams in Goldfleet The 49ers concluded the Gold-/Silverfleet qualification races yesterday with two races sailed in light winds without changes on top of the rankings. Fletcher/Bithell GBR stay on first 6 points ahead of Peters/Sterritt GBR and Gilmour/ Turner AUS at equal points. Rast/Burd USA (rank 27) and Scheidt/Borges BRA (rank 42) missed the Goldfleet cut.
Leader change in the 49ersFX where Annemiek Bekkering/Cecile Janmaat NED replaced the Olympic medalists Jena-Mai Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN on top. The best of the day Tina Lutz/Susann Beucke GER (ranks 1/1/2) advanced on the 3rd place.

 49er, 49erFX - European Championship 2017 - Kiel GER - Day 2 Sun and again a fresh breeze from the shore prevailed on the second day of the 49er-/49erFX European Championship in Kiel.
No change on top of the 49erFX rankings after the four races of the day with Jena-Mai Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN on first ahead of Annemiek Bekkering/Cecile Janmaat NED and Charlotte Dobson/Sakia Tidey GBR.
In the 49ers, the leaders David Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR extended their lead on 4 points. James Peters/Scott Sterritt GBR and - thanks of two race wins - David Gilmour/Joel Turner AUS follow on rank 2 at equal points. Bildstein/Hussl AUT are now 4th one point behind.

 49er, 49erFX - European Championship 2017 - Kiel GER - Day 1 with with USA and CAN teams The Olympic skiffs European Championship in Kiel began yesterday in thundery weather and 12-25 kn wind. The experienced teams took the command in these difficult conditions.
First after races of the 49ers are Dylan Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR one point ahead of the tied Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT and Jack Hawkins/Chris Thomas GBR. Separated by two points only, Judge Ryan/Hans Henken USA and Chris Rast SUI/Trevor Burd USA are on the ranks 30 and 34. Alexander Heinzemann/Justin Barnes CAN are 51st.
The leaders in the 49erFX are the Olympic Bronze medalists Jena Mai-Nasen/Saskia Salkov DEN with two race wins. Annemiek Bekkering/Cecile Janmaat NED and Charlotte Dobson/Saskia Tidey GBR follow on the ranks 2 and 3. Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea USA are 22nd.

49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - European Championship 2017 - Kiel GER with USA and CAN teams in all Classes - Premiere for the foiling Nacra 17

 49er, 49erFX, Nacra 17 - European Championship 2017 - Kiel GER with USA and CAN teams in all Classes - Premiere for the foiling Nacra 17 Today, the combined European Championship for the Skiffs and Nacra 17, for the first time upgraded on foils, will begin in Kiel. The teams have received the new boats only three weeks ago and the first in-race experiences will be interested to follow. In a second fleet, the traditional non-foil Nacras will sail for the title.
In the Olympic Nacra 17 fleet, the favorites among the 35 teams will be the Olympic Champion Santiago Lange/Cecilia Carranza ARG, the defending Champion Billy Besson FRA and Iker Martinez ESP. Two USA teams will start in the new foiling environment.
In the Olympic Skiffs, some dominators of the previous years are missing, such as the America's Cup winner and Olympic Champion Peter Burling NZL or the past World and Olympic Champion Nathan Outteridge AUS and others, sailing at the Moth Worlds instead. However, racing will be interested in the big 49er fleet with 100 teams from 34 nations, experienced oder newcomers. In addition to the proven English and Spanish teams, the multiple Laser and Star World Champion Robert Scheidt BRA wants to be prove his skills in the skiffs as well. The most prominent newcomer is the Olympic 470 Champion Sime Fantela CRO, starting with his brother Mihovil Fantela. Another prominent comeback is the SUI and USA 49er Olympian Chris Rast SUI/USA, who will start together with Trevor Burd USA under USA flag. Three USA and a CAN team participate.
70 teams from 28 nations participate in the 49erFX with the Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA as key favorites.
