The Nacras were the first to sail their Medal Races yesterday in fresh, but still sailable conditions. Inspite of three weak results (6/6/8), Ruggero Tita/Claudia Banti ITA remained on top thanks to the considerable advantage after the Qualification Series, winning the title in their first Nacra season. Fernando Echevarri/Tara Pacheco ESP earned Silver one point back. Another point behind are Ben Saxton/Katie Dabson GBR finishing 3rd after winning two of the three Medal Races. Two USA teams were in the entry list (among them Bora Gulari USA), but did not show up.

After the three races of yesterday, Ruggero Tita/Caterina Banti ITA will start to today's Medal Race with a 10 points advance. The ranks 2 to 4 however are separated by 4 points only. Lin-Ea Cenholt/Christian Lübeck DEN are new on rank 2. Ben Saxton/Katie Dabson GBR and Fernando Echevarri/Tara Pacheco ESP follow on the ranks 3 and 4.

Foiling was difficult for the Olympic Nacra 17s yesterday in the light winds on Kiel Bay. Tito Ruggero/Catarina Banti ITA managed the situation the best and are the new leaders 10 points ahead of Fernando Echevarri/Tara Pacheco ESP now on 2nd. Ben Saxton/Katie Dabson GBR advanced on the 3rd place.

The Nacra 17 Europeans in Kiel continued with three races sailed in light winds and the latest novelty was, that the foiling catamarans went upwind under gennaker.
Winning both heats, John Gimson/Anna Burnet GBR climbed on top of the rankings ahead of the newcomers Tito Ruggeri/Caterina Banti ITA. Fernando Echevarri/Tara Pacheco ESP are now on rank 3.

The first appearance of the Nacra 17 catamarans, equipped with foils, was followed with high interest, and the expected spectacle was there.
Fernando Echevarri/Tara Pacheco ESP managed the new equipment the best and took the overall lead with the ranks 3/4/1. On the second place are the newcomers Tito Ruggero/Caterina Banti ITA and - at some distance - Allan Norregard/Anette Viborg DEN on rank 3. The Moth European Champion Chris Rashley GBR made a successful debut together with Laura Marimon GBR as crew on the 5th position.
