The first Optimist European Championship organised in Bulgaria ended yesterday with two races.
The Argentinian Donna Mazzucchella ARG dominated in the Girls right from the beginning and finished as superior winner with a 26 points' advantage. As best European, India Page-Wood GBR on rank 2 earned the official European Champion's title. Natascha Rast SUI followed on rank 3 (Europeans' Silver). Johanna Schmidt AUT with the same number of points on rank 4 grasped Europeans' Bronze. Emily Alfortish USA, the only NorAm in the Goldfleet, moved up 10 ranks and is 24th in the final rankings.
Stefan Yuill SRB takes the European Champion's title in the Boys, the first international title for Serbia. Igor Kuczys POL and Iakovos-Dimitrios Dedes Ntentopoulos GRE get Silver and Bronze. The best USA helmsman Ryan Satterberg USA advanced on rank 19 overall in the final rankings.

Another successfuly day for the Swiss girls on the last day of the Optimist European Championship in Bulgaria. As best of the day with the ranks 5 and 6, Natascha Rast SUI climbed on rank 3 of the Open Rankings. In the European only rankings, she even has the Silver Medal behind India Page GBR, as the Open winner Donna Mazzucchelli is from Argentina. The Girls ranking list.
In the Boys, Stefan Yuill SRB won the first title for Serbia. Silver and Bronze went to Igor Kuczys POL and Iakovos-Dimitrios Dedes-Ntentopoulos GRE. All Boys' ranking lists.

Inspite of a rather medium day, Donna Mazzuchelli ARG extended her lead in the Optimist Girls on 22 points. Cosima Schlueter GER remains on rank 2. New on rank 3 is Asli Akbeniz GER. Emily Alfortish USA, the only NorAm in the Goldfleet, is 34th.
In the Optimist Boys, Stefan Yuill SRB had his day with the ranks 1 and 2, taking the overall lead in the Boys' Goldfleet. Can Ertürk TUR follows two points back on rank 2, Igor Kuczys POL advanced on the 3rd place. The best USA helmsman is Ryan Satterberg USA did not finish the last race and descended on rank 28.

Two races were held in fresh winds on the Black Sea in Bulgaria yesterday to conclude the qualifications for Gold- and Silverfleets.
In the Girls, the leading Donna Mazzucchelli ARG won both races of her Group and is now 5 points ahead of Cosima Schlueter GER. Katharina Schwachhofer GER moved up on rank 3. Emily Alfortish USA, the only NorAm in the Goldfleet, is 28th.
New leader in the Boys is Can Erturk TUR, best yesterday with the rank 1 and 2, five points ahead of Blake Wilson AUS and Ioannis-Christos Mouzakis GRE on 2nd at equal points. The best USA helmsman is Ryan Satterberg USA on the excellent 14th place.

After the windy opening day with a 20 kn breeze, it was the light-wind specialists' turn yesterday in the prevailing 8-12 kn. Two races were sailed with leader changes in both fleets.
In the Boys, Ioannis-Christos Mouzakis GRE moved on top with the ranks 2 and 1 in his Group, 3 points ahead of Blake Wilson AUS. Santiago Palkin ARG and Can Erturk TUR follow at equal points on the positions 3 and 4.
In the Girls, Donna Mazzucchelli ARG has taken the lead one point ahead of Cosima Schlueter GER. Asli Akbeniz TUR is new on rank 3.
