 49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2017 - Matosinhos POR - Final results The joint Olympic Skiff World Championship 2017 was concluded in Portugal yesterday in refreshening winds.
Jena-Mai Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN are the new 49erFX World Champions ahead of Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA and Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL. Erin Rafuse/Danielle Boyd CAN finished 22nd and Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea USA 24th.
In the 49ers, the ranks 1 and 2 are British with Dylan Fletcher/Suart Bithell GBR remaining on top ahead of the best of the day James Peters/Fynn Sterritt GBR advancing on rank 2. Bronze goes to Benjamin Bildstein/David Hussl AUT. Judge Ryan/Hans Henken USA on rank 29 are the best USA team, the best CAN team Alexander Heinzelmann/Justin Barnes CAN remain on rank 56.

 49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2017 - Matosinhos POR - Day 5, no NorAm teams in the Goldfleets Refreshening trade winds provided for big waves and much spectacle to an extent that the 49er could not sail in the afternoon.
The 49ersFX sailed three races and only Jena-Mai Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN remained without capsize. They lead overall 5 points ahead of Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL. Another 2 points behind are Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA still with chances for the title. As from today, racing will continue with the best 20 teams in the Goldfleet. Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea USA 22nd and Erin Rafuse/Danielle Boyd CAN 25th will continue the Championship in the Silverfleet.
The 49ers' leaders are Dylan Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR 4 points ahead of Diego Botin/Iago Lopez ESP, Justus Schmidt/Max Böhme GER and James Peters/Flynn Sterritt GBR all at equal points. Judge Ryan/Hans Henken USA on rank 36 are the best USA team and continue the Championship in the Silverfleet. The best CAN team are Alexander Heinzelmann/Justin Barnes CAN on rank 56.

 49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2017 - Matosinhos POR - Day 4 Yesterday, rough conditions prevailed for the first time at the Olympic 49er Skiff World Championship with an 18 to 20 kn wind and 2-meter Atlantic waves, and the qualification series to split the fleet in Gold and Silver rounds have been concluded.
Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL dominated the day in the 49ersFX with the ranks 1/2/1/1 and took the overall lead with a 4 points advance on Jena-Mai Hansen/Katja Salskov DEN. The Olympic Champions Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA moved up on rank 3. Jurczok/Lorenz GER are now on 4th, but with a 10 points' deficit on the leaders, they still keep an option on the title. Erin Rafuse/Danielle Boyd CAN are 28th, Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea USA 29th with the same number of points.
Three bullets for Dylan Fletcher/Stuart Bithell GBR in the 49ers now leading overall with 3 points on Diego Botin/iago Lopez ESP and Justus Schmidt/Max Böhme GER on the ranks 2 and 3 with the same number of points. No USA team in the Goldfleet (best 20) with Judge Ryan/Hans Henken USA on rank 36. Chris Rast/Trevor Burd USA dived on rank 48 with a disqualification and and abandoned race yesterday.

 49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2017 - Matosinhos POR - Day 3, medium ranks for USA and CAN teams After two days' waiting for the wind, a light breeze finally filled in yesterday to kick-off the 49er Worlds with three races.
Peters/Sterritt GBR and Schmidt/Böhme GER are the interim's 49er leaders at equal points, one point ahead of the Bronze Olympians Heil/Plössel GER on 3rd. Chris Rast/Trevor Burd USA are 31st, Alexander Heinzelmann/Justin Barnes CAN 58th.
In the 49ersFX, Alexandra Maloney/Molly Meech NZL have taken the lead with one point on Victoria Jurczok/Anika Lorenz GER. Another point back are Hansen/Salskov DEN, Ruskola/Wulff FIN and Yamazaki/Takano JPN on rank 3. Stephanie Roble/Maggie Shea USA are 29th.

 49er, 49erFX - World Championship 2017 - Matosinhos POR - Day 1, with USA and CAN teams The 84 men's teams from 27 nations and 4 continents as well as the 56 women's teams from 25 nations waited in vain for wind on the first day of the joint World Championship ot the Olympic 49er skiffs. With the dominators of the past decade - Burling/Tuke NZL, Outteridge/Jenkins AUS or Martinez/Fernandez ESP - missing, new names will show up to take the heritage of those big names. Four USA and two CAN men teams and two USA and one CAN women teams are on the entry lists.
