5.5m - World Championship 2017 - Bénodet FRA - Final results
Gavin McKinney BAH and his team defended the lead in the final race of the 5.5 mIJ World Championship in Bénodet FRA winning his first Worlds' title. Mark Holowesko BAH took Silver 4 points behind. The duel for rank 3 went in favor of Jan-Arend Pasman NED. Bernard Haissly SUI had to content himself with rank 4.The event facebook page with photos and videos.
The 5.5 mIJ Worlds continued yesterday in a 10-15 kn breeze with two races. Gavin McKinney BAH and his team replaced Mark Holowesko BAH on top but the two Bahamians are separated by one point only before the last races today. New on rank 3 is Bernard Haissly SUI, but with a 19 points' backlog, he has no real chances for the title. 
Two races were sailed yesterday in moderate winds between 10 and 12 kn at the 5.5 mIJ Worlds in 2 Bénodet FRA, and twice, the winner was Mark Holowesko BAH, now 6 points ahead of Gavin McKinney BAH. On rank 3 follows still Arend-Jan Pasman NED. 
Fresh winds at the upper sailable limit prevailed on the second day of the 5.5 mIJ Worlds in France, and after one race, the fleet was sent back to the harbour. 
The 5.5 mIJ World Championship 2017 in the Bretagne began yesterday with two light-wind races, and with the day ranks 1 and 2, Mark Holowesko BAH has taken the interim's lead. Gavin McKinney BAH follows one point behind. Another point back is Jürg Menzi SUI on rank 3 among the 24 teams from 9 nations. 
Yesterday, the three nations' teams with one or two race wins started to the Final to determine the winner. Finishing twice on top, Jürg Menzi SUI and his team won the prestigious 
According to the rules, the Scandinavian Goldcup is run as a prologue to the 5.5 mIJ World Championship with one representative per nation. Whoever wins three races first gets the Cup. After two days, Norway leads with 2 wins, Switzerland and France remain in the race with one race win each.
