Laser Radial & Standard - European Championship - La Rochelle FRA - Final results, Paige Railey USA excellent 2nd

 Laser Radial & Standard - European Championship - La Rochelle FRA - Final results, Paige Railey USA excellent 2nd The Laser Standard and Radial European Championship in La Rochelle FRA ended yesterday with one race per class.
With another race win, Matthew Wearn AUS won the overall rankings of the Lasers Standard with the Standard Trophy 5 points ahead of Sam Meech NZL. Another 12 points behind followed Pavlos Kontides CYP on 3rd, winning the European's title ahead of Michael Beckett GBR and Jesper Stalheim SWE. Charlie Buckingham USA is 13th, Chris Barnard US 29th and Robert Davis CAN 38th.
Marit Bouwmeester NED was once more a class of her own in der Lasers Radial taking the title as well as the overall Radial Trophy with a 27 points advantage on Paige Railey USA. Maxime Jonker NED followed on rank 3. Erika Reineke USA is 10th, Isabella Bertold CAN 37th.
Second and third in the Europeans rankings (withou non-Europeans) are Maxine Jonker NED and Emma Plaeschart BEL.
In the Radial men, Nik Pletikos SLO took the title ahead of Federico Tocchi ITA and Marcin Rudawski POL.

 Laser Radial & Standard - European Championship 2018 - La Rochelle FRA - Day 5, Paige Railey USA 2nd interim's Fresh winds prevailed also on the second day of the Laser Europeans Final Series off La Rochelle.
Matthew Wearn AUS extended his lead in the Lasers Standard on 4 points. New on rank 2 and best European is now Pavlos Kontides CYP. Sam Meech NZL is another 3 points back. Philipp Buhl GER moved up on rank 4 (2nd European) thanks to a race win. Charlie Buckingham USA has a mediocre day dropping on rank 13. Chris Barnard USA is 25th and Robert Davis CAN 37th.
With the day ranks 1 and 2, Marit Bouwmeester NED extended her lead in the Radials women on 11 points. New on rank 2 is now Paige Railey USA followed one point back by Maxime Jonker NED. Eirka Reineke USA is 13th, Isabella Bertold CAN 35th and Haddon Hugues USA 40th.
No change with the podium contenders in the Radials men: Nik Pletikos SLO is now 12 points in front of Federico Tocchi ITA. Aleksander Arian POL holds rank 3.

 Laser Radial & Standard - European Championship 2018 - La Rochelle FRA - Day 4, Paige Railey USA still 3rd Champagne sailing conditions on the 4th day in a row off La Rochelle with sun, warm temperatures, big swell and a breeze around 15kn. The Lasers Standard and Radial women sailed their first two Final Series races split in Gold- and Silverfleets.
Matthew Wearn AUS defended his lead in the Lasers Standard, but with a race win, Sam Meech NZL reduced the backlog on one points. New on rank 3 is the best of the day (1/2) Jesper Stalheim SWE. Charlie Buckingham USA is 8th, Robert Davis CAN 38th and Chris Barnard USA 49th.
The favorite Marit Bouwmeester NED has now taken the lead in the Radials women. Maxime Jonker NED on the 2nd place is 2 points behind. Paige Railey USA on 3rd with a 5 points deficit still has an option on rank 1. Erika Reineke USA is 8th, Isabella Bertold CAN 22nd and Haddon Hughes USA 36th.
In the Radials men, Nik Pletikos SLO extended his lead overall on Federico Tocchi ITA to 7 points. Aleksander Arian POL remains on rank 3.

 Laser Radial & Standard - European Championship - La Rochelle FRA - Day 3, the US team's Railey, Reineke and Buckingham with top-10 places Two races were held yesterday to conclude the Qualification Series for the Gold- and Silverfleets, again in perfect sailing conditions with sun and a fresh wind.
Matthew Wearn AUS added another two race wins in his group on his results' sheet in the Lasers Standard, but Sam Meech NZL remains in touch only one point behind on rank 2. Andrew McKenzie NZL on 3rd completes the downunder leader trio. The best European is Pavlos Kontides CYP on rank 4. Philipp Buhl GER moved up on the 5th place with a race win. Out of the top is the Olympic Champion Tom Burton AUS on rank 37, who produced two premature starts, and one of them remains in the overall results. Charlie Buckingham USA is 9th. Chris Barnard USA however had a bad day and dropped on rank 43. Robert Davis CAN is 38th, both making the Goldfleet.
Winning 5 of the 6 races sailed, Maxime Jonker NED defended her lead in the Radial women 5 points ahead of Marit Bouwmeester NED an. Emma Plaeschart BEL is new on rank 3. Impressive performance by the USA team with Paige Railey on 4th, Erika Reineke on 8th and Haddon Hughes on 11th. Isabella Bertold CAN is 23rd.
In the Radials men, Nik Pletikos SLO is still on top one point ahead of Federico Tocchi ITA. Marcin Rudawski POL moved up on rank 3.

 Laser Radial & Standard - European Championship 2018 - La Rochelle FRA - Day 2, solid results on NorAms With sun and a 20kn westwind, the conditions were again excellent off La Rochelle FRA and all three fleets completed 2 races each.
Flawless again Sam Meech NZL with two bullets in his group, but Matthew Wearn AUS keeps the pace with 3 race wins on the result sheet. New on rank 3 is Andrew McKenzie NZL. Charlie Buckingham USA is 11th, Chris Barnard USA dropped on rank 28, and Robert Davies CAN is 38th.
Maxine Jonker NED is still in the lead in the Lasers Radial women, but the favorite Marit Bouwmeester NED is strongly coming from behind moving up on rank 2. New on rank 3 follows Hannah Snellgrove GBR. Paige Railey USA holds rank 2, Haddon Hughes USA, among the best of the day (ranks 1/2 in her group) jumps on rank 10, Erika Reineke USA is 11th and Isabella Bertold CAN 14th.
In the Radials men, Nik Pletikos SLO keeps rank 1. New on second is Aleksander Arian POL, the best of the day. Federico Tocchi ITA is on rank 3 at equal points.

 Laser Standard & Radial - European Championship 2018 - La Rochelle FRA - Day 1, top-10 results for USA men and women The Laser Standard, Radial women and Radial men European Championship began in La Rochelle FRA yesterday. Suna and a 12kn wind prevailed during the first two races held in all classes.
The first leader in the Lasers Standard is Sam Meech NZL, winning both heats of his group. With the ranks 1/2 followed Matthew Wearn AUS on rank 2. Pavlos Kontides CYP is on 3rd (btw: the European title goes to the best European). Charlie Buckingham USA is 8th, Chris Barnard USA 14th and Robert Davies CAN 32nd.
In the Lasers Radial women, Maxime Jonker NED finished twice on top of her group and leads ahead of Marie Barrué FRA (2/2) and Tuula Tenkanen FIN on the ranks 2 and 3. Paige Railey USA is on the 4th place, Isabelle Bertold CAN 5th ad Erika Reineke USA 8th.
In the Radial men, Nik Pletikos SLO is first followed by Federico Tocchi ITA and Yvan Beaufils FRA.

 Laser Standard & Radial - European Championship 2018 - La Rochelle FRA - Start today with strong USA and CAN delegations Today begins the joint European Championship of the Lasers Standard and Lasers Radial (women and men) in La Rochelle FRA.
Superior favorite in the Lasers Radial is Marit Bouwmeester NED dominating the Class this year. 101 female participants from 38 nations and 4 continents are on the entry list with 6 North Americasns, among them Paige Railey and Erika Reineke representing the USA and Isabella Bertold CAN. 61 starters from 15 nations are in the male fleet, without North Americans.
In the Lasers Standard, 181 participants from 48 nations and 5 continents are enrolled. In the North American delegation are among others Charlie Buckingham and Chris Barnard from the USA and Robert Davis CAN.
