29er, 420, LaserRadial, Nacra 15, RS:X-Windsurfer - Youth World Championship 2018 - Corpus Christi TX, USA - Final results

With a final race, again sailed in a good Seabreeze, the Junior World Championships ended in Texas yesterday. In six of the nine classes the winners were already prematurely determined. It was exciting in the 29er-Boys fleet where the leading Mathias Berthet/Alexander Franks-Penty NOR almost lost their title by having their worst race. Only thanks to a higher number of race victories, they held on to 1st beating Seb Lardies / Scott McKenzie NZL who remain second overall. Bronze goes to Henry Larkings/Miles Davey AUS. Charlie Hibben/Nicholas Hardy USA finished the series in 17th place. Carmen and Emma Cowles USA won their second world title in a row in the women's 420s, with Vita Heathcote/Emilia Boyle AUS taking silver. Thanks to victory in the final race, Violette Dorange/Camille Orion FRA jumped up to rank 3. No changes on the podium in the 420 boys fleet. Joseph Hermus/Walter Henry USA won ahead of Otto Henry/Romë Featherstone AUS and Kacper Paszek/Bartek Reiter POL. In the 29er girls competition the leaders Pia Andersen/Nora Edland NOR also won the final race and won in front of Berta Puig/Isabella Casaretto USA and Zoya Novikova/Diana Sabirova RUS. In the Nacra 15, Teresa Romairone/Dante Cittadini ARG are the new champions. Andrea Spagnolli/Giulia Fava ITA advanced to second place, whilst the tied Greta Stewart/Tom Fyfe NZL had to settle for bronze.
Nicolas Martin/AnaClare Sole USA managed to win the final race and moved up to 7th overall. Geronimo Nores USA outperformed Nicolo Renna ITA and Fabien Pianazza FRA in the RS:X windsurfers. Among the windsurfing girls, Isley Watson GBR beat Veerle ten Have NZL and Giorgia Speciale ITA. Dominique Stater USA remained 13th overall.  Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2018 - Corpus Christi TX, USA - Final results As reported yesterday, Josh Armit NZL and Charlotte Rose USA were already crowned Junior World Champions prior to the last race. Nevertheless, the final race proved to be exciting in the Boys fleet, as Juan Cardozo ARG had his worst race (rank 22) and almost lost his silver medal to Zac Littlewood AUS. In the end the Australian was missing out by just one point. Charles Carraway US sailed his discard yesterday and fell back to 5th overall. In the Girls fleet Charlotte Rose USA won six races out of the nine races sailed and had 4th to discard. Silver and bronze go to Emma Savelon NED and Valerya Lomatchenko RUS.

Six titles are already won ahead of today's closing day. Although one further final race is scheduled for today, the Junior World Champions in six of the nine classes are already determined: In the 420 boys fleet Joseph Hermus/Walter Henry USA cannot be caught up and Otto Henry/Rome Fatherstone AUS have assured their silver medal. Kacper Paszek/Bartek Reiter POL are 3rd, seven points ahead of a chasing pack of four teams who can theoretically still overtake them. Carmen and Emma Cowles USA are on their way to successfully defend their title from the previous year in the 420 girls competition. Their lead is currently 11 points, but as they have UFD to discard they cannot afford any slip-ups today. In the girls 29er Pia Andersen/Nora Edland NOR are new world champions. Berta Puig/Isabella Cassaretto USA are currently in 2nd place and have won a medal for sure. Although they can still be overtaken by Zoya Novikova/Diana Sobirova RUS who are just three points behind. A Norwegian victory is most likely also among the 29er Boys: Mathias Berthet/Alexander Franks-Penty NOR lead ten points ahead of Seb Lardies/Scott McKenzie NZL in 2nd place, but they themselves have to defend their silver medal against Henry Larkings/Miles Davey AUS who are only five points further back. Charlie Hibben/Nicholas Hardy USA are in 19th place. A class of their own was Teresa Romairone/Dante Cittadini ARG in the Nacra 15: Their advantage is a massive 33 points! Three teams, which are only 3 points apart, will fight today for the other medals. Nicolas Martin/AnaClare Sole USA are 9th overall. Geronimo Nores USA is the new junior World Champion in the RS:X-windsurfers. Nicolo Renna ITA wins silver and Fabien Pianazza FRA has the bronze medal for sure. Also among girl’s RS:X-Windsurfers the medal winners are decided: Islay Watson GBR wins the title, Veerle ten Have NZL and Giorgia Speciale ITA will make out silver and bronze among themselves.  Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2018 - Corpus Christi TX, USA - Day 4 - Josh Amit NZL und Charlotte Rose USA neue Junioren-Weltmeister Even before today's final race, Josh Amit NZL and Charlotte Rose USA are the confirmed new Junior World Champions. With 6 victories in 8 races and a 4th to discard, the American defended her title from the previous year confidently. For her part, Emma Savelon NED has won the silver medal. Walerya Lobatchenko RUS and Wiktoria Golebiowska POL, who is just oune point behind the Russian, will fight for the bronze medal today. Behind the new world champion Josh Armit NZL, Juan Cardozo ARG and Zac Littlewood AUS will most likely share silver and bronze among themselves. Similar conditions prevailed again like on the first days with a fresh Seabreeze at the Junior World Championships in Texas. In some classes, the first preliminary decisions seem to have already been made: Joseph Hermus / Walter Henry USA again dominated the race in the 420 boys fleet with two race wins and are now leading 12 points ahead of Otto Herny / Romë Featherstone AUS. Carmen and Emma Cowles USA lead in the 420-Girls with 5 race wins in 6 races. 9 points behind, Vita Heathcote / Emilia Boyle GBR and Julia Delhom/Silvia Borso di Carminati ESP follow on the 2nd and 3rd place. Teresa Romairone/Dante Cittadini ARG have a 20 points lead in the Nacra 15 catamarans. Greta Stewart / Tom Fyfe NZL have moved up to second place. In all other classes, the leaders are close together: In 29er Boys fleet Mathias Berthet/Alexander Franks-Penty NOR defended their lead, but Seb Lardies/Scott McKenzie NZL closed in and are just one point behind.  Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2018 - Corpus Christi TX, USA - Day 3 Similar conditions prevailed again as on the first days with a 15 to 20 knots Seabreeze at the Junior World Championships on the Texas Gulf Coast. With the daily ranks 1 and 2 Charlotte Rose USA increased her lead in the Radial Girls to five points ahead Emma Savalon NED. Wiktoria Golebiowska POL remained in third place. In the Radial Boys fleet Josh Armit NZL just managed to defend his lead, as the daily best (4/1) Juan Cardozo ARG closed in to one point behind. Zac Littlewood AUS in third is now 9 points back. Optimal 15 to 20 knots seabreeze conditions prevailed again on the second day of the Junior World Championship, which allowed to complete the full schedule. In the men’s 420, the leading Joseph Hermus / Walter Henry USA won both races and have now a 7-point lead over Otto Henry / Romë Featherstone AUS. The American team is also leading in the 420 women fleet. Carmen and Emma Cowles USA, who won the title in the previous year by a large margin, are again the clear leaders. They have won 3 of the 4 races and are 4 points ahead of Vita Heathcote / Emilia Boyle GBR. In men's 29th Mathias Berthet / Alexander Franks-Plenty NOR had a convincing day with ranks 2/1/1. They lead 5 points ahead of Seb Lardies / Scott McKenzie NZL. There is also a Norwegian lead in the 29er Girls by Pia Anderson / Nora Edland NOR, who also won 2 of the 3 races yesterday. Three points back are Zoya Novikova / Diana Sobirova RUS in second place. Berta Puig/Isabella Casarotto USA follow in 3rd overall. In Nacra 15 fleet, Teresa Romairone / Dante Cittadini ARG took the lead with 3 race wins. Silas Muhle / Romy Mackenbrock GER and Henri Demesmaeker / Frederique Van Eupen BEL tied on points follow in 2nd and 3rd are already 13 points behind. Josh Armit NZL won both races of the day in the Boys fleet and thus took the lead in the standings. 2 points behind is Zac Littlewood AUS, Juan Cardozo ARG fell back to third. Charles Carraway USA is currently 5th overallIn the Girls fleet, Charlotte Rose USA won both races of the day, pushing Emma Savelon NED from the top. All classes could sail 2-3 races. In the 420 Boys category Joseph Hermus / Walter Hery USA took the lead, 5 points behind them on equal points are Matthias Menis / Nicolas Starc ITA and Kacper Partek / Bartek Reiter POL. In the 420s Girls Carmen and Emma Cowles USA won both races. Four points behind follow a tied trio with Vita Heathcote / Emilia Boyle GBR, Julia Delhom / Silvia Borso Di Carminati ESP and Solène Mariani / Maude Schmid SUI. Among the 29er Boys Henry Larkings / Miles Davey AUS lead Seb Lardies / Mike McKenzie NZL. Pia Andersen / Nora Edland NOR are ahead of Zova Novikova / Diana Sabirova RUS and Maru Scheel / Freya Feilke GER in the 29er Girls. In the Nacra 15 catamaran, Silas Muhle / Romy Mackenbrock GER lead with 2 race wins ahead of Henri Demesmaeker / Frederique Van Eupen BEL.  Laser Radial - Youth World Championship 2018 - Corpus Christi TX, USA - Day 1 The World Sailing Junior World Championships in Texas kicked off yesterday. In a good Seabreeze around the 15kn, two races were sailed in each class. In the biggest fleet of 58 boys Radial sailors, the first 4 placed are only just one point apart: Juan Cardozo ARG and Uffe Tomasgaard NOR share the lead, Zac Littlewood AUS and Josh Armit NZL follow in ranks 3 and 4. Charles Carraway USA had a daily 5th and a 14th. He is currently 8th overall. Among the Girls - with 46 participants / 46 nations also an impressive field - Emma Savelon NED is leading with the daily ranks 1 and 2 ahead of the tied Charlotte Rose USA and Wiktoria Golebiewska POL.
