The previous leader 'SAP Extreme Sailing' with Adam Minoprio NZL was down in the fleet after a premature start and could not reach 'Alinghi' anymore. With this win, the Swiss have taken the overall Tour lead 2 points ahead of the Danes. Two Acts in North America are left.

Pouring rain and fresh winds aroujd 20kn prevailed on the 3rd day of the Cardiff Extreme Sailing Series . In a gale-force gust, 'Team Wales' and 'Oman Air' capsized practically simultaniously. While the Wales team was forced to abandon the day, 'Oman Air' could continue the competition.
No changes on top of the rankings: 'SAP Extreme Racing' with Adam Minoprio NZL slighty extended their advantage on the second-ranked 'Alinghi' with Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI on 7 points. New on rank 3 is 'Oman Air' with Phil Robertson NZL.

Winning 5 heats, the Danish 'SAP Extreme Sailing Team' with Adam Minoprio NZL was clearly the team of the day. 'INEOS Rebels UK' with Leigh McMillan GBR follows with a 5 points backlog on rank 2. Roman Hagara AUT with his 'Red Bull' is on 3rd. 'Alinghi' of Arnaud Psarofaghis SUI had an unfortunate start, as Nils Frei SUI got hurt in the first race. A substitute could be found as from race 3 with the 'INEOS' reserve sailor Gillies Monroe GBR joining the Swiss, who are now on rank 4 with a 15 points' deficit.
