 F50-Catamaran - SailGP - Grand Final - San Francisco CA, USA - Day 1 The San Francisco Sail GP began yesterday with three races held close to shore in a freshening sea breeze. ----- Nathan Outteridge AUS and his 'Team Japan' lead the standings tied on points with 'Team Australia' of Tom Slingsby AUS. Two points behind, 'Team GBR' (Ben Ainslie GBR) and 'Team Denmark' (Nicolai Sehested DEN) share 3rd. Also strong was 'Team Spain' with first-time helm Jordi Xammar ESP, who improved impressively after a last-place finish in the first race and kept pace with the best with 3rd and 2nd thereafter. ----- Today, the San Francisco SailGP will be decided with 2 more races. ----- After that, the top three in the annual standings - 'Team Australia', 'Team USA' and 'Team Japan' - will meet in the grand final for $1 million in prize money. At yesterday's press conference of the three leading teams, Team Australia with Tom Slingsby AUS was declared the clear favourite by its competitors Jimmy Spithill AUS (Team USA) and Nathan Outteridge AUS (Team Japan). The talented Hawaiian girl dominated the junior classes, winning the US foil WASZP championship in her very first participation.
