World Sailing Youth World Championship 2022 - Den Haag NED - Final results

 World Sailing Youth World Championship 2022 - Den Haag NED - Final results In light winds, the Junior World Championships came to an end yesterday in Holland. ----- With a 3rd place in the only race of the day, Axel Grandjean/Noëmi Fehlmann SUI secured the Nacra 15 title, their second Junior World Championship medal after bronze last year. One point behind, Daniel and Nora Garcia de la Casa ESP took the silver medal. Bronze goes to France with Tiphaine Rideau/Titouan Moreau FRA. ----- In the ILCA 6, both titles went to Ireland: Eve McMahon IRL won the women's event ahead of Evie Saunders AUS and Roos Wind NED. ----- In the men's race, 15-year-old Rocco Wright IRL moved up to first place at the end of the series, with Sebastian Kempe BER and Ole Schweckendiek GER tied for second and third. ----- In the 29er, Argentina took both titles: Maximo Videla/Tadeo Funes ARG won the men's race with a big lead over Santiago Sesto/Leo Wilkinson GBR and George Lee/Seb Menzies NZL. In the women's race, Amparo Stupenengo/Julia Pantin ARG finished first ahead of Lucie Gout/Fleur Babin FRA. Manase Ichihashi/Rinko Goto JPN moved up to third place at the end. ----- In the 420, Freddie Park/Asher Beck USA managed a race win in the men's race, narrowly knocking Roi Levy/Ariel Gal ISR out of first place by one point. Bronze went to Ema Smarzjia/Leon Scheidl CRO. ----- Maria Perello/Marta Cardona ESP won the women's race ahead of Amelie Wehrle/Amelie Rinn GER and Camilla Michelini/Margherita Bonifacio ITA. ----- With 8 wins in 11 races, Charlie Dixon GBR won the iQ-Foil windsurfers clearly ahead of Hidde Van der Meer NED and Nacho Baltasar ESP. ----- With 10 wins in 10 races, Tamar Steinberg ISR was the superior World Champion, Merve Vatan TUR and Lina Erzen CRO took the other medals. ----- Like a year ago, Maximilian Maeder SGP and Riccardo Pianosi ITA had a close duel at the top of the kiteboarders. Once again it was Maeder SGP who took the title. Jakub Jurkowski POL won bronze. ----- Julia Damasiewicz POL won the Kite-Foil title superiorly ahead of Héloise Pegourie FRA and Derin Atakan TUR. ----- The Nations Trophy went to Spain. With up to 15kn, somewhat fresher prevailed for the first time at the Junior World Championships yesterday. ----- In the Nacra 15 (see video above), Axel Grandjean/ Noëmi Fehlmann SUI took the lead with the day's ranks 1/1/2. However, their advantage over Daniel and Nora Garcia ESP before today's final day is just 2 points ----- In the 29ers, Maximo Videla/Tadeo Funes ARG go into the final day with a 4-point lead over George Lee/Seb Menzies NZL. Stach Vleeshowers/Meyssan Tazi SUI are still 21st. ----- An Argentinian lead as well in the women's 29ers through Amparo Stupenengo/Julia Pantin ARG. Lucie Gout/Fleur Babin follow 5 points behind in second position, while Sophie Studer/Sterre Wiersma SUI remain in 20th place. ----- In the men's 420, Roi Levy/Ariel Gal ISR go into the final day with a 9-point lead. Mesquida/Jaume ESP and Sancho/Vozone POR are tied for second place. Theo Elbel/Liam Kuster SUI follow on rank 19. ----- In the women's 420, the first four are only 3 points apart: Michelini/Bonifacio ITA lead by 2 points ahead of Perello/Cardona ESP and Wehrle/Rinn GER. ----- In ILCA 6, Peter Barnard USA, Rocco Wrigt IRL and Ole Schweckendiek GER are tied for the lead in the men's race. Boris Hirsch could improve to rank 40. ----- With a 14-point lead, Eve McMahon IRL is unlikely to be displaced from the top spot in the women's race. Evie Saunders NZL and Kaherin Dole USA follow on rank 2 and 3. ----- With 5 race wins, Maximilian Maeder SGP has taken over the lead in the kite men's race. ----- Julia Damasiewicz POL leads the female kiteboarders with 3 points ahead of Héloise Pegourie FRA. A clear situation is in the iQ-Foil windsurfers: Charlie Dixon GBR leads the men with 24 points. ----- In the women's category, Tamar Steinberg ISR has won all 10 races so far ! ----- All rankings and the daily-report.

World Sailing Youth World Championship 2022 - Den Haag NED - Day 3

Yesterday, too, there were only lieght winds at the Junior World Championships, and numerous races had to be postponed. ----- The iQ-Foil windsurfers have only sailed on the start day so far ! ----- At least one race was sailed by the Nacra 15: Thanks to a race win, Axel Grandjean/Noëmi Fehlmann SUI moved up in points to the still leading Daniel and Nora Garcia de la Casa ESP. The Spanish Optimist newcomers have only been sailing together for a few weeks, but benefited from their weight advantage (-20kg over the competition!) in the light winds so far. ----- The 420s were the only class to sail a full program with 2 races. Amelie Wehrle/Amelie Rinn GER extended their lead in the women's ranking to 8 points with another race win. Camilla Michelini/Margherita Bonifacio ITA are now in second place. In the men's fleet, Marc Mesquida/Ramon Jaume ESP took the lead, Roy Levy/Ariel Gal ISR follow 5 points behind in second. Theo Elbel/Liam Kuster SUI remained in 19th place. ----- In the 29ers, at least the men were able to sail a race. George Lee/Seb Menzies NZL reduced their deficit to 8 points as the day's winners, Maximo Videla/Tadeo Funes ARG continue to lead. Stach Vleeshowers/Meyssan Tazi SUI are now 22. ----- The Kiteboard Men also managed to finish one race. Lightweight Riccardo Pianosi ITA won again, Maximilian Maeder SGP on the other hand had trouble keeping his board foiling. ----- All the other classes had to take a break, but today the forecast is for fresher winds around 15kn, so the rankings are likely to change tomorrow ! Light winds around 6kn and strong currents made for challenging conditions yesterday. In the Nacra 15, Daniel and Nora Garcia ESP won both races of the day and are now 2 points ahead of Axel Grandjean/Noëmi Fehlmann SUI. The ILCA 6 could only sail one race each: Defending champion Sebastian Kempe BER held on to the top spot in the men's race, Rocco Wright IRL moved up to 2nd. Eve McMahon IRL extended her lead in the women's race with another race win, Evie Saunders NZL follows in second. A full programme with three races was on offer for the 29ers: Maximo Videla/Tadeo Funes ARG extended their lead in the men's race to 12 points, Sesto/Wilkinson GBR are still in second place. Stach Vleeshowers/Meyssan Tazi SUI are now 21st. In the women's race Lucie Gout/Fleure Babin FRA lead by one point over Amparo Stupenengo/Julia Pantin ARG. With a race win Jule Ernst/Louisa Schmidt GER moved up to rank 3. Thanks to two top ten results, Sophie Studer/Sterre Wiersma SUI improved to 18th place. In the 420, Amelie Wehrle/Amelie Rinn GER, who are only 15 years old, maintained their lead with a 2-point advantage over Maria Perello/Marta Cardona ESP. In the men's race Roi Levy/Ariel Gal ISR took the lead with Marc Mesquida/Ramon Jaume ESP following 2 points behind. Theo Elbel/Liam Kuster SUI improved to 18th place. In the men's kiteboarding Ricardo Pianosi ITA took the lead with three race wins, Maximilian Maeder SGP follows on rank 2, in the women's kiteboarding Julia Damasiewicz POL leads with 3 points ahead of Héloïse Pegourie FRA. The Junior World Championships began yesterday in Holland in moderate conditions, with a full programme of 2-4 races depending on the class. In the Nacra 15, Daniel and Nora Garcia ESP and Axel Grandjean/Noëmi Fehlmann SUI shared the lead after 3 races with equal points. Sebastian Kempe BER won both races of the ILCA 6, Boris Hirsch SUI is 47th of the 63 participants. In the women's ILCA 6, Eve McMahon IRL leads ahead of Evie Saunders AUS and Roos Wind NED. In the 29er Maximo Videla/Tadeo Funes de Roca ARG won all 3 races, Devaux/Rio FRA and Sesto-Cosby/Wilkinson GBR are the first chasers. Stach Vleeshowers/Meyssan Tazi SUI follow in 21st place, they had to skip the first race with material damage. In the 29er Girls, Lucie Gout/Fleur Bain FRA are leading ahead of Manase Ichihashi/Rinko Goto JPN. Sophie Studer/Sterre Wiersma SUI are 22nd. In the 420 Men, Roi Levy/Ariel Gal ISR won both races, Theo Elbel/Liam Kuster SUI follow in 19th place. The women's classification in the 420 is led by Amelie Wehrle/Amelie Rinn GER, Maria Perello/Marta Cardona ESP follow in 2nd place. After 4 races, Hidde Van de Meer NED and Charlie Dixon GBR lead the iQ-Foil windsurfers with 3 race wins each in their group. In the women's category Tamar Steinberg ISR and Merve Vatan TUR won all 4 races of their group. As expected, defending champion Maximilian Maeder SGP is already in the lead among the kiteboarders, followed by Riccardo Pianosi ITA, who is tied for second place.  29er, 420, ILCA 6, Nacra 15, iQ-Foil-Windsurfer, Kite-Foil - Youth World Championship 2022 - Den Haag NED The World Sailing Junior World Championships start today in Holland. A total of 450 participants from 69 nations are competing - the entry lists. With good medal chances are Axel Grandjean/Noëmi Fehlmann SUI in the Nacra 15. Maximilian Maeder SGP, Singaporean with Swiss roots, is the big favourite in the Kiteboard men's race. Switzerland is also in the 29er (Stach Vleeshowers/Meyssan Tazi SUI), the ILCA 6m (Boris Hirsch SUI) and the 420 (Theo Elbel/Liam Kuster SUI). The official preview and the event website.
