Nacra 17, iQ-Foil - International Regatta, Part II - Lanzarote ESP - Final results

The winds remained light and inconsistent on the final day in Lanzarote. Nacra 17 and the iQ-Foil men were able to finish their series with the Medal Races, the iQ women could only finish one last qualifying race. In the Nacra 17, Billy Besson/Noa Ancian FRA also won the Medal Race and were clearly ahead of Mateo Majdalani/Eugenia Bosco ARG and Micah Wilkinson/Erica Dawson NZL. There was also a French victory in the iQ-Foil Men's Final: Adrien Mestre FRA won the Final of the best 4 ahead of Luuc Van Opzeeland NED. Sam Sills GBR, who dominated all week, had to settle for 3rd place. Sebastian Kördel GER came in 4th. Elia Colombo SUI finished the series in 34th place, Sebastian Schärer SUI followed in 36th place of the 75 participants. Without a Medal Race, the women's iQ podium remained in Israeli hands: Shahar Tibi ISR won ahead of Sharon Kantor ISR, who was tied on points, Maya Morris ISR moved up to third thanks to victory in the final race. Nacra 17, iQ-Foil - International Regatta, Part II - Lanzarote ESP - Day 2

After 4 days of fresh winds with huge Atlantic waves, there were offshore winds and flat water for the first time yesterday. In the Nacra 17, Billy Besson/Noa Ancian FRA took the lead by one point over Mateo Majdalani/Eugenia Bosco ARG. In the Men's iQ-Foil, Sam Sills GBR narrowly held on to the lead, with Sebastian Kördel GER moving up to the Englishman as the day's best. 4 points behind follows Nicolas Goyard FRA. Elia Colombo SUI is now 27th, Sebastian Schärer SUI follows in 33rd, Mateo Benz SUI is 39th - in the women's race there is now a triple lead for the Israelis: Shahar Tibi ISR and Sharon Kantor ISR share the lead with equal points. Nacra 17, iQ-Foil - International Regatta, Part II - Lanzarote ESP - Day 1

In Lanzarote, the second part of the international regatta started yesterday with the foiling Olympic classes Nacra 17 and the iQ-Foil windsurfers. After two days of Sahara sand storm, the sun returned yesterday and the winds remained moderate at 10-14kn. ----- With two race wins in 3 races, Micah Wilkinson/Erica Dawson NZL took the top spot in the Nacra-17, with Matteo Majdalani/Eugenia Bosco ARG and Laila Van de Meer/Bjarne Bouwer NED following in a tie for second. ----- In the iQ-Foil, the Israeli women dominated with 6 athletes in the top 12 and Sharon Kantor ISR and Katy Spychakov ISR in first and third. ----- In the men's race, Samuel Sills GBR took the lead with 1st and 2nd place. Sebastian Kördel GER and Daniele Benedetti ITA share 2nd place with equal points. The Swiss follow in 25th (Elia Colombo SUI), 31st (Sebastian Schär SUI) and 33rd (Matteo Benz SUI) in the fleet of 70 competitors. All rankings and the daily report.

470, 49er, 49erFX - International Regatta - Lanzarote ESP - Day 3

Stormy winds of up to 30 knots and poor visibility due to Sahara dust reduced the program in Lanzarote yesterday. Only the 470s were able to finish a race. ----- Nitai Hasson/Noa Lasry ISR, leading the race by a large margin, had to let Anton Dahlberg/Lovisa Karlsson SWE pass with a torn spinnaker on the finish downwind. The Swedes extended their lead over Jordy Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP to 6 points. Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI finished the race in 16th place coming strongly from behind after a bad beginning. Directly following were Linda Fahrni/Cyril Schüpbach SUI finishing 17th and advancing to 18th overall. ----- Today, a final qualification race is scheduled in all classes, followed by the Medal Races. Mermod/Siegenthaler SUI are well on their way as 6th placed overall. ----- All rankings and the report.

Moderate but inconsistent winds and a big swell made for challenging conditions at the start of the international regatta. ----- 470s and 49ers sailed 3 races, the 49erFX finished two races, with Olympic Gold Medallists Martine Grael/Kahena Kunze BRA leading ahead of Jana Germani/Giorgia Bertuzzi ITA. In the competitive 49er fleet, Keanu Prettner/Jakob Flachberger AUT surprisingly took the lead with two race wins. James Peters/Fynn Sterritt GBR follow 3 points behind on rank 2. Dickson/Waddilove IRL and Botin/Trittel ESP share rank 3. Joshua Richner/Nilo Schärer SUI follow on rank 26. ----- In the 470, 4 teams share the lead with equal points: Anton Dahlberg/Lovisa Karlsson SWE, Yves Mermod/Maja Siegenthaler SUI (with race win), Luise Wanser/Philipp Autenrieth GER and Jordi Xammar/Nora Brugman ESP.
