ILCA 6 - Youth European Championship 2023 - Gdynia POL - Final results - 2 x Gold für Italien

 ILCA 6 - Youth European Championship 2023 - Gdynia POL - Final results - 2 x Gold für Italien On the final day of the ILCA 6 Junior European Championships, there was no wind for further races. ----- After a total of 9 races, Emma Mattivi ITA won the girls' race with 16 points ahead of Roos Wind NED. Petra Marendic CRO tied for bronze in third place. Viktoria Jedlinska SUI came in an excellent 9th, Léonie Baudet SUI follows in the Goldfleet on rank 45 of the 116 participants. ----- In the boys' race there was an Italian double victory by Mattia Cesana ITA and Massimiliano Antoniazzi ITA. 29 points behind, Eric Norlen SWE was 3rd. Boris Hirsch SUI follows on rank 27. In the Silverfleet, Lenny Züger SUI follows on rank 35 (=101 Overall), and Timo Coupek SUI is 51st (=117). ILCA 6 - Youth European Championship 2023 - Gdynia POL - Day 5

Changeable weather and winds made for challenging conditions again yesterday, with most of the fleet able to complete three races. ----- Before today's final day, Emma Mattivi ITA leads the girls' fleet with 16 points ahead of Roos Wind. Viktoria Jedlinska SUI is in 9th place thanks to a race win in the Goldfleet and Léonie Baudet SUI has also moved up to 45th place. ----- In the boys' ranking, Mattia Cesana ITA is now 7 points ahead of Massimiliano Antoniazzi ITA. Eric Norlen SWE is already 29 points behind in third place. Boris Hirsch SUI moved up to 27th position. ----- All rankings and the daily report.

ILCA 6 - Youth European Championship 2023 - Gdynia POL - Day 4

The final races began yesterday in 10-16 knots of wind, but thunderstorms brought the day to an early end. In the only race of the girls' gold fleet, the Italians dominated once again with first and second place: Emma Mattivi ITA now leads by 3 points over Maria Arseni ITA. Another 2 points behind is Petra Marendic CRO on rank 3. Viktoria Jedlinska SUI moved up to rank 9, Léonie Baudet SUI is 50th in the Goldfleet. The Men's Goldfleet managed to complete two races, Mattia Cesana ITA holding on to the top spot with another race win. Erik Norlen SWE and Athanasios Kyfidis GRE follow 7 points behind in second and third. Anton Messeritsch AUT moved up to 17th thanks to a race win. Boris Hirsch SUI, the only Swiss in the Goldfleet, follows in 49th place. All rankings and the daily report.

ILCA 6 - Youth European Championship 2023 - Gdynia POL - Day 2

After the light winds of the start day, there were fresher conditions yesterday with 10-15kn, three races each could be sailed. New at the top of the mens rankings are Omer Vilenchik ISR and Massimiliano Antoniazzi ITA, both of whom finished 1/1/2 in their groups yesterday. Two points behind them, Joao Pontes POR and Mattia Cesana ITA share 3rd place. Boris Hirsch SUI moved up to 28th place with the day's rankings of 7/9/6 and is thus on course for the Goldfleet (top 67). Lenny Züger SUI (rank 101), Timo Coupek SUI (rank 104) and Youri Declerck SUI (rank 124) will probably sail in the Silverfleet, the last two qualification races are scheduled today. The strong wind specialists have also advanced in the women's race: Emma Mattivi ITA is leading with one point ahead of the duo Roos Wind NED and Petra Marendic CRO. Viktoria Jedlinska SUI improved to 17th place, Léonie Baudet SUI dropped back to 38th place after shining with a 2nd place in her first race on the start day. All rankings and the daily-report.

ILCA 6 - Youth European Championship 2023 - Gdynia POL - Day 1

After the Junior World Championships last week in neighbouring Dzwinow, the ILCA 6 Youth European Championships started yesterday in Gdynia. Weak, offshore winds made for difficult conditions, but at least the huge fleets sailing in several groups were able to finish the first race. ----- The 263 boys sailed divided into 4 fleets, and the daily wins went to Jacek Kalinowski POL, Samuel Rikala FIN, Marios Stathas GRE and Luka Zabukovec SLO. The best Swiss is Antonio Donelli SUI in 57th place, also 14th in the U17 ranking. ----- The 120 girls sailed in two fleets, and the day's wins went to Natalia Nadrzewia POL and Emma Mattivi ITA. Léonie Baudet SUI was an excellent 2nd in her group, sharing 3rd overall with Adriana Castro ESP. ----- All rankings and the daily report.
