29er - World Championship 2023 - Weymouth GBR - Final results

The 29er World Championships came to an end yesterday in Weymouth with four races in 8-15 knots of wind. ----- With a consistent series of top ten results, Clementine and Nathan Van Steenberge IRL secured the World Championship title with a 17 point lead over Maximo Videla/Juan Cruz ARG. This is the second time in the soon-to-be 20-year history that a helmswoman has won the title! Bronze went to Alexis Demurtas/Giovanni Santi ITA. Hugo Revil/Karl Devaux FRA, tied on points, had to settle for 4th place. Anton and Johann Sach GER dropped back to 6th place, just 4 points behind the bronze medal. The Swiss were able to improve slightly: Stach Vleeshowers/Pierre Jully SUI finished the Worlds in 22nd place, Constantin Higgs/Itay Geller SUI were 27th in the Goldfleet. In the Silverfleet, Simon and Mathieu Mille SUI finished 13th (=63 overall), Ikke Huber/Liam Berger SUI were 16th (66 overall) and thus 9th in the U17 classification. 29er - World Championship 2023 - Weymouth GBR - Day 3

With fresh winds around 20kn, the qualifiers for the finals were completed yesterday with 3 races. ----- As team of the day with 3 race wins in their group, Hugo Revil/Karl Devaux FRA moved up to 2nd place, only 2 points behind Ben Crafoord/Jacob Marks AUS. Mateo and Simon Codoner ESP follow in 3rd place, 3 points behind. Stach Vleeshowers/Pierre Jully SUI in 30th and Constantin Higgs/Itay Geller SUI in 43rd are in the Goldfleet as of today, Simon and Mathieu Mille SUI are likely to have just missed the Goldfleet of the best 54 in 57th. ----- The ranking and the report.

A full programme was sailed yesterday in 15-20kn winds, with all 4 fleets now having completed 4 races. ----- With two more race wins in their group, Ben Crafoord/Jacob Marks AUS held on to the top spot, with Anton and Johann Sach GER and Zeb Van Dorst/Yannick Van Den Akker NED sharing second place one point behind. ----- Stach Vleeshowers/Pierre Jully SUI and Constantin Higgs/Itay Geller SUI follow on equal points in 38th and 39th place and are thus on course for the Goldfleet. Fresh winds up to 25kn made for a rough start to the 29er World Championship in Weymouth yesterday. When 2 of the 4 groups had completed a first race, the day had to be abandoned as the winds picked up. ----- The day's wins went to Ben Craford/Jacob Marks AUS and Zeb Van Dorst/Yannick Van den Akker NED.
