 Trophee Jules Verne Day 26
The Roaring Forties, usually with a fresh westerly breeze, did again not live up to their reputation during the past 24 hours. Easterly winds forced both Maxi-Trimarans to veer South. But, as also the record holder 'Banque Populaire' had a difficult low-wind day three years ago, 'Spindrift' as well as 'IDEC' compensated much of their backlog. Yann Guichard and Dona Bertarelli SUI are again just ahead of the record with 4 miles. 'IDEC' with Francis Joyon FRA had a 71 miles' deficit this morning UTC. Both trimarans will most probably have rounded Cape Horn in seven days already.
The report of 'IDEC' and the website of 'Spindrift'.
