Trophée Jules Verne - Day 31 - in record time around Cape Horn

Despite of the difficult light-wind during part of the Pacific crossing, both Maxi-Trimarans rounded Cape Horn yesterday after a furious finish with over 700 miles within 24 hours regaining the advantage over the existing record. 'Spindrift' with Yann Guichard FRA and Dona Bertarelli SUI passed the infamous Cape already yesterday morning 18 hours faster than Loïck Peyron FRA in his record ride (here the drone Video of the passage), while ‘IDEC' with Francis Joyon FRA had a small 3 hrs and 29 minutes backlog. All depends now, how successful the two record challengers overcome th St-Helena anticyclone in the middle of the South Atlantic to take the final lead and remain ahead of the record. The race will remain exciting !
