News from 'World Sailing' Report on Visa denial for Israeli windsurfers
One day late, 'World Sailing' published its report concerning the 'Visa affair'. The Federation blames the discrimination of the Israelian windsurfers and announced, that more severe actions will be taken in the future, up to the expulsion of a National Authority. Despite having identified that actions of the Malaysian authorities, in excluding competitors from Israel, broke three Articles of its Constitution or Regulations the Malaysian's penalty will be simply the receipt of a letter from the controlling body of the sport of sailing. No consequences will the issue have within 'World Sailing' responsible for the correct organisation of an event run under their auspices. Vice President Chris Atkins GBR, delegate of 'World Sailing' in Malaysia, former Chairman of the Events Committee directly responsible proposing Malaysia as venue, gets away with no blame. Not the first headlines for the English official, as three years ago, the final of the ISAF Team Racing World Championship had to be reraced because of his mistakes as Head Umpire ! The 'World Sailing' report and a commented version on the 'Sail-World' website.
