First the alerting news about the heavily polluted water, and now another threat.
World Sailing stated last autumn, that racing in the Guanabara Bay in Rio will depend on successful cleaning actions with satisfactory results concerning the water quality. Also yesterday, the World Health Organisation Geneva declared, that the Zika virus is a global emergency, and Brazil urged pregnant women to avoid the Olympics. The virus transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito, which also spreads dengue fever, and which is found everywhere in the Americas except Canada and Chile is not fatal. But there is currently no specific treatment for the virus, which causes flu-like symptoms and a rash.
