Finn - European Championship 2016 - Barcelona ESP - Final results - Gold for Pieter-Jan Postma NED

Pieter-Jan Postma NED concluded the Finn European Championship 2016 with two solid races - rank 8 in the last fleetrace and a 5th place in the Medal Race - and won his first title in an important international championship after a number of podiums such as at the London/Weymouth Olympics 2012. The 2nd position in the Medal Race brought Beresz Zsombor HUN back on a medal place and he earned Silver with just one point on Milan Vujasinovic CRO. Josh Junior NZL however distroyed his medal chances with a failed last fleetrace relegating him on rank 4 overall. Tom Ramshaw CAN had a perfect last day in his first Finn International Championship finishing 3rd in the last fleetrace, qualifiying him for the Medal Race, where he finished 7th, but remained on the 10th place overall with a small backlog on the ranks 8 and 9. The USA Finn sailors however concentrated on the fight for Rio, and in the last race, Caleb Paine 7th and 24th overall had the upperhand on Zach Railey 44th and 29th in the final rankings.
