A 16-18 kn wind prevailed yesterday, favoring the big-breeze specialists and allrounders. Today, the last Final Races are on the program before the crucial Medal Races tomorrow Saturday.
All set once more in the Nacra-17 where Billy Besson/Marie Riou FRA won another race and have now a 43 points' lead on Thomas Zajac/Tanja Frank AUT. A clear situation also in the 470 men with Matthew Belcher/Will Ryan AUS 18 points ahead of Panagiotis Mantis/Pavlos Kagialis GRE. A different outlook however in the 470 women with Fernanda Oliveira/Ana Barbachan BRA only 2 points in front of Kyranakou/Van Veen NED, and another 3 points back Seabright/Carpenter GBR on 3rd just waiting to benefit from the duel on top.
Even closer is the situation on top of the 49ers with Delle-Karth/Resch AUT and Seaton/McGovern IRL tied on first, and Heil/Plössel GER on 3rd 1 point behind. The last Olympic berth goes to Sweden as Bergström/During SWE are the only non-qualified nation representatives in the Goldfleet. The report of the 49er class. Tom Squires GBR remained on top of the RS:X men windsurfers ahead of Pawle Tarnowski POL who reduced his backlog on 2 points with a race win. Thomas Goyard FRA is 3rd. No change on top of the RS:X women windsurfers as well with Olga Maslivets RUS as first. Maja Dziarnowska POL and Flavia Tartaglini ITA moved up on the ranks 2 and 3.
