The first 36 hours in the Transat with a 20-25 kn wind Wind have taken its toll. In the Open 60, Sébastien Josse FRA ('Edmond de Rothschild') was forced to veer direction Vigo with a damaged main sail. The Multi-50 leader Erwan Le Roux FRA ('FenĂȘtréeACardinal') had to abandon the race with a damaged floater, and Maxim Sorel FRA hit a container cargo with this Class 40. The three Ultime trimarans pull clear of the fleet at speeds exceeding 30 kn. Thomas Coville FRA ('Sodebo') leads with a 10 miles advantage on François Gabart FRA ('Macif'). First in the IMOCA Open 60 is Vincent Riou FRA ('PRB') 17 miles ahead of Armel Le Cléac'h FRA ('Banque Populaire'), both on new-generation Open 60s with the foil daggerboards. Pierre Antoine FRA ('Olmix') stays on top of the Mulit-50 witha 26 miles' lead on Gilles Lamiré FRA ('Frenchtech') on 2ns. In the Class 40, the leading duo Phiul Sharp GBR and Thibaut Vauchel FRA is separated by one mile only.
